It does look familiar. Too bad that doesn't mean anything.
Simon looks down at the book inexplicably in his hand--imagine that, a real Time of Isolation-style book, paper and a leather binding--and tries to remember what he was going to do with it or even why he has it in the first place. He draws a blank. This is unfortunately an all too common experience these days.
Take a mental step back. Look around. He still remembers some things just fine. It's an unfortunate fact that most of those things are from Ezar's reign or earlier.
And this? Definitely not any of the rooms of palace. Ezar didn't do interior decorating this. Yes, it's all ostentatious enough, but it lacks that particular...Barayaran-ness, for want of a more descriptive word. Maybe Gregor...? He's still a boy--no. Yes? No. No, he's fairly certain Gregor is a man grown, and Gregor, too, has tastes that wouldn't match this. Particularly not this number of mirrors.
So why is this familiar? Where the hell is he? He's more annoyed than worried. Exasperated. Exasperated is an excellent word for it. And of course, whatever the situation, if it's strange, it-- "I don't know how, but this must be Vorkosigan's doing," he mutters.

That, he definitely remembers.
