One, it appears the newcomer is a humanoid, if not human. And two, the newcomer also appears to be young. There's also a lack of military insignia on her person, as far as he can scan. That doesn't really jive with what BB-8 was worried about.
He's not the most discerning of astromechs. Naive is a good word for him. ]
