Now, Sans. This naivete isn't like you at all.

[So funny. He never seems to act surprised. Or, at the very least, he always tries not to let it show. Even without the ability to remember, he seems to know what's going on. He must have a lot of Fun, taking all those whimsical little shortcuts everywhere.

Chara drinks it in. If they can't gain strength with blows, they'll gain strength with words. They were summoned to FIGHT. In whatever way they can.

But no... it's not just that, is it? Chara had given up on being SAVED like those precious little Lost Souls. Chara had taken Sans' offer of mercy, and it cost them one more death. Chara waited with held breath and as the last person in the world who still uttered their name...

Held it up to a newer, better one, and found Chara lacking.

Ha. Mercy, huh?

No, Chara had no interest in hoping to be lifted up. Chara wanted only to drag someone down. And between Frisk and Sans, what lovely candidates they had! They knew about spooky scary skeleman. They remembered Papyrus' voice, meant for ears other than Chara's, musing that Sans never told anybody anything. They peeked into a telescope through Frisk's eyes. They were along for the ride when a tower of hot dogs wobbled into being. They knew about a love for science fiction that had maybe been buried under countless timelines' worth of apathy.

They saw a machine that would never work again. They, too, told themselves.

don't forget.

For a moment, their smile goes surprisingly... childlike. They even giggle.]

That's no way to speak to the legendary fartmaster.
