directed: (one thing to consider)

Point of fact, Rip is actually quite good at telling people what they don’t want to hear—he’s certainly gotten punched enough times to prove the point. It’s also why he knows that most people aren’t usually looking for that sort of opinion. Thus, he’s rather curious when Amy turns, staring him down with some intent he can’t quite read—although one that he suspects lies in the fact that, once again, she’s staring at a face that is both intimately familiar and anything but.

(And for the record, no. Rip wouldn’t be worshiping her any time soon.)

He considers her hypothetical—one presented in a way that makes him suspect it’s anything but—while at the same time taking a slow sip of his drink. Once he lowers the glass he slides a fingertip along the rim.

“That’s a rather complicated matter. One would have to consider if the effects of this crime are carried over into the restored reality or if they had been undone—although that doesn’t mean the memories have been lost.” Certainly not for one person in particular, and Rip gives Amy a long look. It’s not hard to figure out what she’s really asking. She’s done something, and she’s trying to find resolution for it within herself.

With the advice of a person who looks like her husband, but in fact isn’t.

“You remember—in this entirely hypothetical situation, of course.” Because naturally, they can’t reveal that this is, in fact, a real scenario. “Which leads me to believe that whether or not it’s a crime is incidental. You still carry the weight of it.”
