It's not unusual to find people talking to themselves in Wonderland. Not just new people, of course; the longer they stick around, the more the mansion seems like a home for crazies than a gathering places for the between-worlders.

"Haven't seen him yet," Sam replies to the stranger, stopping on his way to crack a smile. "But I'll keep that in mind."

He imagines a lot of people have something to say to Lewis Carroll after their experience in Wonderland. He may not have created this place, a bastardized version of his already-messed-up world, but... well, maybe he did. Who knows?

"You could pass the message on to Alice or the White Rabbit. You're more likely to see them."

Though he's never been able to have a truly transparent conversation with the former and has never tried with the latter.
