When he steps towards her, showing concern, even affection, Regina doesn't initially know how to react. He's maintained a cautious distance before, untrusting of her intentions. And then he calls her 'mom'. Her expression flinches, that cold front shifting for just a moment in her confusion. Of all the horrible things she wanted to do to people in Storybrooke, she still loved her son, in some twisted way, but she knew she had a long way to go before he accepted her for who she truly was. This version of her, her best self.

"I.. was in Storybrooke," she answers, shaking her head slightly to clear those cluttering emotions. "One moment I was there, the next I was here. Wherever here is exactly." She frowns disapprovingly, looking around the place. Even a mansion such as this can fail to impress the Evil Queen.

"Who did this?" she demands then, looking to Henry, wondering if this is something perhaps beyond both of them. "Is this your other mother's attempt to get rid of me for good? By trapping me here?"

Only by what she says next does Henry realize this isn't the Regina he knows who's here. Two things cross his mind: One, is Regina still here, and two...what the hell is happening in Storybrooke? All that passes on his face is confusion as he takes one very large step backward.

"Why would Emma try to get rid of you? What's happening? Why are you acting like this, and why are you dressed like the Evil Queen?" he demands, not afraid, but worried now, for everyone he loves including Regina. Something happened to make her evil again, it had to, he just doesn't know what.

"Emma?" Regina repeats, confusion in her own voice. The Saviour has been little more than an irritation , and the idea that Henry thinks Emma could ever get rid of her like this makes her laugh. It's not a pleasant sound. It's a low, dark tone that unfurls from the back of her throat, complete with a glint in her eyes that tells of many unspoken horrors.

"Oh, Henry, no. Not Emma." There's a smile now that doesn't sit well on her lips, a visceral sense of pleasure that she could destroy herself - or at least the parts of herself she hated so much. "Are you really mistaking me for her? Regina? Don't you remember? How my better half did everything she could to destroy me, and she failed. And now.. she's failed again."

She steps forward, closing the gap between her and her son as she takes hold of him by the chin. "She wanted to keep you from me, and she couldn't even manage that."

"What the hell is going on?"

Look, he's said it on the show, so he can say it in Wonderland. He takes another big step away from her. Regina tried to get rid of the evil inside of her and somehow, someway now there's two of her.

"When I came here my mom was one whole person. I don't know what happened in Storybrooke but I won't let you hurt my mom. This isn't her doing or mine. You went through a portal you didn't even know existed. We all did. I went through it almost three years ago."

Look, he may be defensive but he'll still give her the basic info because it might keep her from hurting someone else to get the answers she wants.

There's a thinly veiled curl of her lips when Henry has the audacity to pull away from her. She is his mother, regardless of what anyone else thinks. She remembers every moment of his childhood just as her better half does. In fact, she probably remembers them better. After all, it had to be her stronger side that withstood so many sleepless nights.

"I am your mother, and she tried to hurt me first. I thought I'd raised you better than this Henry, not to judge until you know all the facts." She makes a disapproving sound, slowly turning her head to look at the building around them, the place they've wound up.

"When you say you all did.. who exactly. Is.. Regina here?"

"You might be my mom, but if you're trying to hurt anyone then you're hurting me, too. If you're just the Evil Queen, then you don't care about that part." He's guessing.

"Yeah, she's here. and Zelena. There were others but they left." And wow, he really wishes Emma were here because the four of them with magic against the Evil Queen had to be better than three. But that's going to have to work for now. That's about when he realizes he has squid ink in his room thanks to his dad and he keeps that in the back of his mind.

"It's not just people from our world here. It's people from all over the universe. Some places with magic, some places without. And you aren't in charge. No one in this mansion is."

Regina arches an eyebrow thoughtfully at his words. If Regina is here, then perhaps there's still a chance to destroy her for good. After all, they're now separated, and one can die without harming the other. As for Zelena, well, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad time to repair their alliance, especially against her better half.

And that just leaves Henry, the son with a heart far lighter than her own, but not impossible to convince.

"I'm not trying to hurt anyone, Henry," she says airily, as if he's worrying himself over nothing. "I'm just trying to make things right. And now that I'm here, maybe I have that chance." She smiles, and for a moment, it's as if she's whole again.

"Who brought us here exactly? Is it someone from our world? The Enchanted Forest?" Her expression darkens. "Don't tell me this was the imp."

Not trying to hurt anyone? Okay, whatever you say, evil version of mom.

Still, at her question, he shakes his head a little. "It wasn't anyone from our world. This is a version of Wonderland. Not the one Cora ever ruled over. Something completely different. There's a Queen of Hearts, but no one can get to her." He gestures to the mirrors. "Where she lives is on the other side of the glass and we all have a double. Our reflections spy on us, listen to us, and report back to her."

He might as well tell the truth because he has nothing to lose and if the Evil Queen is going to be here, well. She may be evil but she still deserves to know the ins and outs.

At the mention of Wonderland, Regina pulls a face like Henry had just said a swear word. She absolutely detests that place, even more so for it's connections to her mother. Not that this place is the same, it seems, but any version of Wonderland is bad news.

"The Queen of Hearts?" she repeats imperiously, a glower forming across her face. "So she's the one who did this?" She slowly turns towards the mirror, looking at her reflection, even admiring it for a moment. She does, after all look resplendent. "I think it's time to let her know there's a new Queen in town." She chuckles at her reflection, a smile on her face that's just as evil as her namesake. It's a smile that no doubt existents too on the face of her counterpart in the mirror.

"Yeah, but not Cora."

It's really important to him that she gets this, Evil Queen or no.

"You're not going to be able to do anything. People have been trapped here for years. You've been trapped here for years. I mean, the part of you that's not...just...this. Emma's been here. Rumplestiltskin's been here. Pan. People from different worlds with different magic." Maybe he just has to get firm with her and give her something, make sure she understands how serious he is.

"Mom." This is his most serious tone he's ever had, and it's so clear that his voice is deeper now. He's not the ten-year-old he once was. "There is no leaving here until this place is done with us. I've been here for almost three years. I'm telling you the truth. We're stuck."

Henry’s voice is not one she’s heard before. A voice without hope, with grudging defeat. Even now, she knows her son is a believer, always optimistic in the face of darkness. Not this. Perhaps it’s that that truly conveys the severity to her, for she slowly turns, concern finally making its way onto her face. Not just concern that she may be here longer than she would like, but that they’ve trapped her son, here, alone, all this time.

This Regina may be closer to the Evil Queen she was once, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love her son - in fact, it makes that love all the more volatile, quicker to anger when someone dares to hurt him.

“You’ve been here all this time.. without me?” she frowns, eyes studying his face, for a moment, her thirst for revenge held back. But then, the darkness rolls in like a thunderstorm, clouding over her face, and she turns to look back at her reflection with a glare that threatens retribution.

"You've been here. All of you." Not just some split personality version of her. "Zelena's here."

He knows, somewhere deep inside, that this is still his mom. And somewhere deep inside of him, he really can't just threaten and give up and walk away. So, he steps closer and reaches out a tentative hand to place on hers.

"This place isn't about what's happening at home. It's about trying to survive here." If she thinks thing try to kill them a lot of the Enchanted Forest or Storybrooke then LOL because she hasn't seen anything yet.
