dining room
That doesn't stop the necessities of eating and sleeping; both which Chloe is doing a lot less than is probably healthy, but she's starting to grow accustomed enough to her new surroundings that she is developing somewhat of a routine. Which is how she found herself in the dining room, taking a break from her own investigations to pick up a pretty bland plate of her own consisting of eggs, dry toast, and some fruit. ]
Do you mind some company? [ Chloe had heard Peggy's commentary, noting that the mansion sure did like to draw people from every walk of life. Plus, the way the woman is inhaling her food is pretty amusing. She seems like someone worth having a conversation with. ] I just got here a few weeks ago. I'm still getting used to this place.

By all means. Help yourself -- quite literally, I suppose.
[ for what burden is sharing when the bounty doesn't end? that should bother her more, she supposes, but right now it's enough to sate her hunger. ]

[ She could have saved so much time cleaning up after a seven year-old with that kind of trick. And cleaning up after her roommate, for that matter.
She takes a seat next to the woman, poking at her own, bland plate with her fork. Peggy's choice of food looks a lot more appealing. ]
I'm Chloe Decker.

Peggy Carter. [ she'd offer a hand to shake, but it seems a bit crass while eating. so, instead, she brandishes her fork in little salute. ] And although I'm not one for redecorating on a good day, I certainly can see the appeal.

It's nice to meet you, Peggy. [ She takes a bite of her egg. At least it tastes good - exactly the way she cooks them at home. It makes her homesick for breakfasts with Trixie. ] I never had a lot of time for cleaning and decorating back home. I tried leaving it to my roommate but... that was a mistake. It's a lot easier here.

[ -- under her mother's room, school dorms, army barracks, and then a string of other peoples' flats. howard's. ]

[ Mostly waking up at various points in the night and remembering that her daughter isn't in the room next door. That's the worst part.
Watching Peggy eat that delicious looking tomato makes her stomach rumble, and it's not a moment later that a few fried tomatoes appear on one of the platters in front of Chloe. She smiles, a little embarrassed, and moves a couple of them to her plate. ] I could definitely get used to not cooking breakfast every morning, though.

[ another thoughtful chew. peggy chases another tomato down on her plate and uses its soft texture to paint it across a halved scone. unconventional, maybe, but she does feel a drive to slap just about anything between bread. bread makes for such a great food vehicle.
with a knowing look, she nods towards chloe's plate and the appearance of tomatoes of her own. ] Devilishly good, aren't they?

Weirdly good. It's not something I've ever had before. [ She takes another bite, chewing thoughtfully. ] So, uh, what did you do back home? I mean, if you don't mind me asking. [ Another bite. Now she's on a roll, and she's realized how hungry she actually is. The way she's starting to wolf it down isn't entirely different from Peggy's exuberance. ] I was a cop in Los Angeles.

Funnily enough? I was -- am still, I think -- a federal agent. Working, most recently, out of Los Angeles.
[ practically colleagues, us. ]
Although I was only there for a case. Otherwise, I'm based in New York.

That's great. My partner from home is here, too. We can start a club. [ She offers a more genuine smile to Peggy now, feeling more relaxed now that they have something in common. ] Must have been a big case to bring you all the way out to LA. Are you FBI?
