Yes. I'm very sure. I volunteer at the clinic, actually... [More importantly, her roommate should know a lot about burns, being covered head to toe in them.] I still think it's...odd... What were you trying to do, before I...scared you?
no subject
Why, nothing especially heinous, or anything! I was just practicing my wizardly magicks and casting spells and such. I guess I can get, um, pretty-- pretty entranced! When I'm studying! And I was reviewing... my first level spells.
no subject
Of course. [Sweet boy would never do anything heinous.] If you practice in your room, this won't happen... And people wouldn't know what you can do.
[She values the element of surprise, especially being a tiny girl.]
First level...? How many levels are there?
no subject
[When she asks such a basic question about magic, though, Angus feels incredibly proud to already know the answer from all his lessons with Taako. He holds up the book he was practicing from to show her.]
Why, there are ten levels of spells in all! Starting from level 0, otherwise known as cantrips, all the way up to level 9! I am nowhere near that level yet! But I can competently produce results when practicing all the way up to level 2 right now!
[He smiles wide. He's very proud of his progress, especially after Taako complimented his ability a few times.]
no subject
...I guess I can understand that way of thinking. You just used an attack spell, though... That's better as a secret.
[get with the program ango]
...I see.
[Don't mind her, she's just going to take the book and flip through it, casually continuing to ignore her injury. It's fine. Everything is fine. There isn't a hint of nothing being anything but fine on her face, even as she flips through pages of things that, quite frankly, don't make a lot of sense.]
That's not bad progress...unless you've been doing it for a very long time, I guess. Is it hard to learn magic?
no subject
[Yeah, he's still not getting the idea. For a veritable genius, Angus sure can be a clueless kid sometimes. And he's excited enough about the subject that he has pretty much forgotten that he hurt her at all.]
I have only been learning for a few months now, so in my opinion it is pretty good progress! Magic is very difficult! I try to keep using a little every day so I don't, um, lose the-- Use it or lose it, that's what my grandpa always used to say! And he probably knew what he was talking about, even if it wasn't strictly a magic-related expression.
