kimono-on over here.
Jill's the restless sort; with the BSAA, she's always on the front lines as an SOA, whether it's in the midst of an outbreak or investigating, it's very rarely that she has any downtime. Her work is her identity, both her passion and her dream, something she strives for above and beyond anything else. It frustrates her in a way she's incapable of expressing when it comes down to it and though she's obliged to wear the provided clothing, something about all of this disquiets her beyond the fact she's meant to simply swallow this bitter pill as more than just a fever dream.
It's fine, she's back home, drenched in sweat, and there's Chinese waiting in the fridge for her for when she feels better. That is, of course, assuming this dream isn't the most vivid she's ever had.
A little frustrated, but glad for the company, Jill's shoulders rise and fall with a solid huff. ]
In a country where I come from, traditionally they supposedly do. [ She knows about it primarily due to work and dealing with customs undercover. ] I'm not sure I'd like to test the theory that they do, though. We are here, after all.
[ Her yukata is the dark grey of a stormy sky, with little in way of pattern. It's a little baggy to accommodate for her body shape, but more comfortable for that reason. She tugs the sleeve up to offer a solid hand to shake. ]
Jill. I take it you're somewhat frustrated and doing a little exploring, too?

Not even the loss of Cordé and a few other of her handmaidens can stop her. Much to Captain Panaka, Obi-Wan and Anakin's dismay.
She looks over at her companion with an interested look. She's always found other cultures fascinating. Understanding differences is how a politician gain footholds, after all.]
So, it's more of a tradition than an actual preventative measure. [She nods in thought.] I suppose that's as important as anything else.
[A small, white hand comes out of the red sleeves of her yukata to take the other woman's hand.]
Padmé Amidala. I'm not sure that I'm quite to the frustrated part just yet. But, I do find a knowledge of my terrain helps a great deal.

You know, other than being here.
She gestures with a hand as she speaks, the opposite planted comfortably to her hip. Her fingers press together as she swerves her hand through the air in a vague circular motion. It's not something she'd thought she'd be explaining and least of all something she felt she was educated enough to discuss, but it's a nice, neutral subject. ]
I can't say how true it is as being just a tradition here. Being here alone means this place is something outside of my realm of knowledge. Might be that it's actually some kind of technological barrier.
[ Which is something she's honestly more comfortable with. She preferred monsters to be the kind she knew she could fight, even if it were an uphill battle.
Jill's hold is firm and considerably militaristic, though not lacking in warmth in how she leans in some with a quiet smile. Subdued, not a tactic to gain insight or anything but what it seems. She keeps it short, but not so short that it might cause discomfort. ]
Then you're much more of a trooper than I am. [ After the initial shock and disbelief, frustration was her natural course of action. Even if she could bust out and scurry home, it was still something that felt troublesome. Add in actual ghosts and she might up the description to something more than that. ] That's something I can agree on. Unfortunately, this place seems pretty big. One thing I do know is the best place to start when you're looking for answers is to go where no one wants you to.
[ But sometimes the No Trespassers sign is there for a reason, just as these things might be sincere in intention. ]

[She frowns in thought.]
Although, I suppose that's a little circular, logically speaking. If it's a barrier, what is it keeping out? Spirits? I've yet to see one and I'm not sure they are real. Until that changes, I'll have to believe that this is more of an instance of cultural mysticism than actual defense against something.
[She gives the woman a slight but meaningful smile. It's nice to see another woman of some thought walking down these corridors with her. Even if they've been strangers until now.]
I believe that you and I share the same way of thinking, but I'm not sure that my guard captain would agree with either of us. I think I've caused him more trouble than I care to recall with my headstrong beliefs. He'd be cautioning me to stay in my rooms and let him survey the land.
However, since he's not here, let's do it ourselves.
[With the air of a woman used to getting what she wants, Padmé shoves the shoji screen open to look inside the room that's been so carefully warded.]
