[ Harry Osborn is a regular in MJ's nightclub. He's here three, maybe four times a week. He's not interested in the themed parties or the disco nights. He's mostly here to drown himself in alcohol. The good kind. The expensive kind. The kind only Mary Jane Watson knows how to pour apparently because there are plenty of other bars that don't serve as a nightclub/karaoke center here in Wonderland -- but here he is anyways. ]

I'll have the usual. [ He forces out a smile as he takes a seat by the bar. He has days where he barely talks and days where he says a little too much maybe. Like two nights ago for instance when he told MJ about his troubles. That he sometimes wakes up with no recollection of how many days have gone past. That he thinks he might be losing his mind. Or that he might be suffering from dementia. Because a week ago he'd woken up with a gash on his forehead, and for the life of him, he can't recall how he'd gotten himself injured. But that's not the worst of it. He's been losing track of time. Take today, for example: he remembers having breakfast this morning, but nothing about the rest of his afternoon. ]

How are you? [ Harry's wondering now if he's said anything else to her that he's not aware of -- if he's spilled too many secrets. He hopes that night had been the one and only time he'd made a complete fool of himself. The last thing he wants is for her to think that he's going insane. He would hate for anyone to have that impression about him. ]

[dramatic]

( mj officially hates wonderland for erasing her completely from both of the men in her life.

peter doesn't know her. harry doesn't know her. in some ways it might be a blessing in disguise. it's not like she's ever going to go up to harry and tell him that in her world they were a trainwreck item, but currently on a break, because harry was a dick and spiraling into a deep drug addiction. she feels for the guy, she does. norman osborn can be monstrous in more ways than one, and he's never given harry the validation and acceptance he so desperately needed.

but these aren't things she's supposed to know. no, what she does know is that this harry battles similar, but also different, demons. the loss of time, the slip of madness. it's an intensity that's almost frightening. like she can almost see that thread unraveling. )

Never been better, handsome. ( she always gives a similar answer, because mj's image is that of a party girl, and as sia expertly sang, party girls don't get hurt. ) Did you come here to check up on your favorite bar owner, or is there something I can bring you besides the usual?

[ The thing about MJ is that he feels surprisingly comfortable being around her. He thinks it's because she has no idea who he is. She doesn't know him. Doesn't expect anything from him. They're strangers. But he's worried now that he might have burst that little bubble with all the things he'd mentioned to her about the problematic issues he's been facing. He's hoping she has the memory of a fish called Dory :#.

Tonight is a brand new night, and although tomorrow is very much uncertain, he's hoping he'll have a better grip on himself. An Osborn is never weak and he'd hate to be pitied most of all. ]

Well, I'm thinking I'd like some company. [ He smiles easily this time, having perfected the art of masking pain and anger when he needs to. Practice makes perfect. ] But if I can't have that, I'll settle for some popcorn with sesame glazed pistachios in a neat little bowl if you have it. Or maybe some warm pretzels with gouda, pancetta and onion fondue. [ If MJ has a habit of giving that similar 'never been better' reply, Harry makes a joke of ordering at the bar -- always requesting for things he knows is a little over the top fancy. ]

[dramatic]

( mj props her elbows on the counter and leans forward in a conversational manner, green eyes glinting with amusement. )

That's oddly specific, preppy. Would you like some edible gold to go along with that?

( she's getting him a burger with fries, ftr.

but it's nice to get him to smile, considering the last time she was tending the bar. he was a wreck and looked it. mj's not in the habit of forcing people to confront their shit -- spiders know that she's been running from her own for a very long time. she's no good at that. she's not gwen. but making someone smile and showing them a grand ol' time so they forget their sadness? well, that's something mary jane watson can do. )

What can I say? [ He lets out a slight shrug, looking well amused. MJ's capable of making him laugh effortlessly and it's appreciated. ] I have oddly specific tastes. [ He's looking directly at her. Of all the bars to frequent in Wonderland, after all. Harry figures a little light flirtation can't possibly hurt anyone. ]

So, MJ. Do you ever give yourself a night off from work? You seem to be here a lot. [ Not that there's much else to do in this tiny world they're stuck in, but he might be curious about what else she gets up to when she's not behind the bar.

It's rare for him to care about someone beyond their good looks. Mostly because he likes to keep people at a distance. That way, they won't end up disappointing him. Or abandoning him. It's been a few weeks now since their first interaction, and he's never shown any real interest in her before. He's thinking he might like to get to know her a little more now. Find out what the MJ stands for. ]
