"Naw, you don't. Not like some. I just... You learn to recognize people for what they are, from the obvious traits. Yours was two things. How you came into the room... and that you came in at all. You were looking out for whoever was in here. Much as everyone around here acts like they care, not many would do that. Most I figure would just walk right by."

It was Jessica Jones logic, and maybe it wouldn't always work but it has served her well.

"I don't know, but don't you think that eventually the people will turn? Human nature and all. They'll bring through someone that killed another, someone that thought nothing of killing before this place, and when they try and do what they're used to here, what happens then?"

She shrugs, proving that she expects the worse out of people, here or back home.

"That's pretty much the opposite. Of small town and where I'm from. New York. Hell's Kitchen."
