[ Any other day of the week, she would just keep walking and go about her business. There was enough to do in Wonderland, anyway — gently pull Maizono-san and Ishimaru-kun further into her gaming pit, see if any preparations could be made for the next potential event, try to assemble a DDR machine from parts from the closet — there was enough to do, anyway. Enough to keep one busy.

But the familiar tune make her stop short, closing her eyes briefly as she smiles softly. It couldn't be a coincidence, right? For someone to know a tune like that . . . She turns, retracing her steps to the music room she'd just wandered past, resting her hand on the door frame as she leans in to get a better look at the pianist.

And for just a moment, her breath catches. It's not often that Wonderland catches her off guard — but then again, after Jabberwock Island and everything related to that, not much could. The surprise shifts quickly enough though, and Chiaki can feel a sort of relief wash over her. In a way, it had never been fair, had it? That most of Class 77-B would get a second chance, but their class representative never would. Except for here, where anything is possible.

She steps forward after a moment, footsteps light. ]

It's different, and it's only when her eyes meet the other girl's that she finally realizes what's going on here, even if, at the same time, there's a bit of confusion that washes into her expression, eyes widening ever so slightly.

And it's just slight when she manages to work her mouth trying to ask a question, but instead what comes out is: ]

... Yeah. It's one of my favorite games. "The Warrior Conquers Alone" has a lot of different renditions due to the remakes. Just like how the first character you get in that game has different romanizations to his name. Lyan in the original guidebook, Ryan on the official Nintendo DS wallpaper.

[ She's familiar enough with them to pick up on the microexpressions, tilting her head to one side briefly, curious. There were a number of things she should probably say first — I'm not a mirror or they're going to be okay or they missed you so much and made me in the process — and yet here they were, falling back on a familiar topic.

It's pretty neat when you think about it, I think. I mean . . . how they interpret a game for a new generation, with the remakes, and what changes from one iteration to another. Like . . . the shift to a 3D graphics engine with 2D sprites, to modernize it while keeping the same aesthetic. And staying true to the spirit of the original game. At least . . . I think so, anyway.

Yeah. I wonder if they'll remake it again... I'd definitely like to play it again, if I could.

I don't know about remakes, but . . . mm. That's the nice thing about Wonderland.

The closets here can give you anything you want. Um, within reason, anyway. So you could get a Famicom and play the original version if you'd like. Or you could get a DS and play the most recent remake. [ a beat. ] Or both, I guess.
