I am. My name's Rosalee. ( There's a little pause. She wants to jump right in and find out why Kira was asking, and whetner the interest is for the right reason, but it's a delicate topic ) Hopefully I can tell you something that might help, though I'll need to ask you a few questions first.

[ kira just barely keeps herself from audibly gulping, and nods. that's totally normal and to be expected, right? if you're giving people herbs and someone asks for something weird. that's typical. this is fine. ]

I mean, yeah. Of course. Yeah. Ask away!

( Rosalee gives a small nod and pauses before asking her first question. Treading carefully, let's go (for both her and Kira) )

You asked specifically for wolfsbane. Is it something you've heard of before, maybe for a specific use, or was it a guess?

[ kira nods. that one was a huge red flag for anyone who knew it might be more than just a remedy of some kind. oops. no use trying to keep hiding it -- she'll only stumble over the words and say something dumb, anyway. ]

No, I know of it. It's sort of something to watch out for? Some people have ... bad allergies to it.

[ she winces. so much for not saying something stupid... ]

( Rosalee nods again, following what she's saying. The girl is also young, she can forgive the tripping up. She's likely not had to hide whatever she's trying to hide for long )

I know a lot about its uses. Some are more benign than others. If you're... allergic to it I can make sure to keep it out of anything that you need.

[ rosalee's patience and delicate handling of kira's blunder makes her breathe a heavy sigh of relief, and brings a smile back to her face. ]

Oh, I'm OK with it. I'm not the typical type of ... person? That has a reaction to it. More like a cousin. [ and now as kira's focus changes from herself to her friends, she shows more of her steel. ] I was curious for if my friends ever show up here. Whether other people could learn how to hurt them.

( It was a promise, and Rosalee wished it could be extended to more but she knew that others here had different knowledge, and not everyone cared as much about protection )

My knowledge is used to help people, for whatever might ail them. If someone came to me it's kept with me.

[ she can almost hear lydia's practicality in the back of her mind, telling her that it's naive to just trust rosalee outright. but the saying goes that curiosity killed the cat, right? a fox should be fine!

kira leans forward a little, lowering her voice. ]

So you have them in your world? People with, uhm, allergies?

We do, yes.

( There's a little smile, a little relaxation that came from being able to talk about these things )

My shop served them more than anyone else.

[ there are the times she wishes her friends were here. they knew more and had been through more and while she still felt out of her depth she knew she wasn't alone.

rosalee's already making her feel that way, and she takes a leap because of it: ]

( She's going to take a tiny little leap of her own if only to make sure she and Kira were on the same track )

I take it that your friends are who you're asking about?

[ kira nods. ]

Well, most are wolves. One's a coyote. [ aww hell. ] I'm a kitsune. I'm ... pretty new to it all, though.

( There's a little smile at the kinship shared between the two of them. As different as kitsune and fuchsbau are there are still some similar roots )

I haven't met too many kitsune. Not in Portland. ( Though some would appear every so often ) But I would be able to help you if something came up.

( Rosalee just wished that she had all of her books here )

That would be really nice. I mean, it sounds like you've had a lot of experience, right?

( There's a pause, a few seconds of hesitation before Rosalee responds )

( It's in trust that Rosalee does this, as she had when she'd first met Monroe. She woges, features quickly rippling from human to fox-like; orange fur on her face where none had been a few seconds ago; fox-like ears appearing. Then Rosalee tips her head down and it's all gone, the woman back where the fox had been )

[ she frowns at first, because rosalee sounds a little ominous and then she shivers and it's like kira's taking a breath of fresh air for the first time since she came to this place. ]

Oh my gosh. [ her hands press against the table, fingers splayed outward. her eyes go wide with excitement and surprise and a laugh bubbles out of her-- ] You're! [ oops no, quiet kira pls-- ] you're kitsune too?

Fuchsbau.

( And Rosalee hopes that her hushed tone will encourage Kira to rein hers in a little. But she can understand excitement when this is new to you, and you're in an unfamiliar place. It's definitely nice having someone to talk to about this )

But there are some similarities.

[ but kira's thrilled to express her ignorance. thrilled to have any sort of kinship at all-- especially another fox? in her exuberance, kira struggles to hush herself. ]

Is it hereditary? My mom's like me, that's where I got it from.

It is. All of my family are fuchsbau.

( Though Rosalee picks up on Kira's specific wording )

My mom's like nine-hundred years old. And we don't shift, really. It's more of an ... aura thing? I'm pretty bad at hiding it, too.

( Now it's Rosalee's turn to be surprised. There were some Wesen that aged differently but this was very different to any she'd met )

Really? I mean, there are different kinds of kitsune in my world.

[ self-consciously, kira bites her lip. ]

They're not all friendly.

That can be the same for a lot of Wesen.

( Depending on what traditions they followed or how they lived their lives )

I'd be interested in hearing more about them.

Me too! I mean, even if there aren't a ton of similarities it's nice to know someone else here will understand.

[ she keeps wavering wildly between excited and unsure. it's awkward and unfamiliar territory, and it leads her to shrug. ]

I don't really know that much, though. I know of one other kind, and I know some abilities I have but I don't really have a lot of control over them...
