Kitchen

[ Chell is hard at work cooking... something. Whatever she's working on requires nearly a dozen potatoes scattered around dirty utensils on the counter and on the floor. It looks like there's a pot on the stove right now with a few peeled potatoes boiling beside a pan with shredded potatoes frying. A bowl of mashed potatoes is on a counter littered with potato skins. The oven has a few nearly done baking. ]

[ The microwave dings and Chell looks up from her cutting board, leaving her fry-cutting and eagerly rushes to the microwave. She reaches in for the bowl of baked beans but recoils at the first touch of its side. Determined to retrieve it, Chell uses the sleeves of her jumpsuit as makeshift oven mitts and with a couple close calls manages to get it to the cluttered counter. If you were hoping to use the stove, you might need to get her attention. She's a little too lost in savoring spoonfuls of her baked beans to notice the burning smell coming from her frying pan. ]

[Wheatley has no need to eat. Really, he doesn't. But talking to people in the kitchen is fun, and so he sometimes zooms in there on the "management rail" he got from the closet.]

[The first thing he notices are the potatoes. Specifically, the potatoes in the frying pan that look like they're gonna catch on fire.]

Uh, excuse me, I think you might wanna check on that pan. Soon...

[Wait, does he know this human?]

[ She hunches her shoulders at the sound of his voice and turns around with a scowl. The spoon in her hand quickly shifts, now held more like a knife, but whatever murderous plans she had were quickly forgotten when the pan suddenly catches fire. ]

[ Chell drops her spoon and looks around, trying to spot the nearest fire extinguisher. ]

-You! Oh my god, I...

[He has so many things to say but here she almost killed him. Thank god the pan started burning.]

Aaaah! Fire!

[He backs away from the flames.]

Oh god oh god, this is bad! Uh... Oh! Fire extinguisher! It's by the sink! [He frantically nods twoards it.] Hurry!

[ Chell rushes for the extinguisher and in moments the whole stove is coated in clouds of white. She coughs and fans the smoke away to find her food now completely ruined. For a few seconds, she stares at the mess, shoulders slumped. So much delicious food gone, so much work and time wasted. ]

[Well, the fire's out. Good.]

[Wheatley's still feeling awkward and guilty, so he attempts to talk to her after a second.]

O-o-okay. Look, I know you're probably angry at me for... Well... A lot of things. That I did. And I have been meaning to apologize for a while, but... Um... Would it be alright if I pointed out that this place has loads of food here? I mean, you could even go to the dining room over there, and you'd get food. Whatever you want. No poisoning, as far as I know. Honest.

[oh god is he making this worse he doesn't know help]

Whoa - Hey...

[ Sam steps in to help out the clearly-distracted stranger, moving the pan away from the stove and turning the burner off. He sighs, glancing down at the 'crispy' potatoes, and then looks over at Chell with a chuckle. ]

Uh... I think they're done. [ He notes, trying to keep a straight face. Nobody got hurt, so that's the important thing, right? ]
