Pleasure then, Bonnie.

[Giving her a sly smile, lounging there all sensual and amused at the same time.

Though his eyes narrow slightly, challenging at the same time.]

So, just how are you going to handle human eating jelly?

[ A smile tugs at the corner of her mouth, and Bonnie pushes herself off the side of the tub, moving her arms a few strokes until she is in the middle of the hot tub.

The nice thing about this place is she doesn't have to hide anymore. The Originals are all non-threatening, for the time being anyway. More importantly, she's not the only witch.

Bonnie stares down at the water, her hands raising up and after a moment, a wave of warm jacuzzi water shoots forward, over the lip of the tub and soaking Vex completely.

She smiles sweetly. ]

Like I said? I'll be fine.

[Vex bolts upright, spluttering and cursing, the words not even entirely in English. Or a human language, really.]

These shorts are leather! Playing games is never safe, Elemental.

[Making that assumption as he brings up his hand, holding it out to her. The mesmer strength he pushes towards her is meant to make her turn and twist, a bit of the Hokey Pokey.]

Be careful who you play with and whose shorts you ruin. Even if I can get more from the closet easily.

[ Bonnie's smile drops immediately as she felts her arms start to move, her whole body twisting and dancing like a marionette on strings.

It takes her a moment to realize what is going on and, even though her body seems to be having fun, it feels like a stone drops into her stomach. This is what compulsion must feel like.

Of course, she's supposed to be immune to it. ]

Stop it. [ Her throat feels tight, but she manages to chock the words out. ]

[Humming the "song" under his breath, Vex looks downright amused... and fairly sinister, in his smirk as he watches her face, the way her expression changes.

The moment she says stop though, he lifts his hand and drops the mesmer power.]

I really did like these shorts. [He peers at her though, head canting.] Dark or light then, pretty one?

[ Bonnie lets out a long breath of relief when she feels his hold over her drop, and she pushes herself to back away from him in the water. She wants to get out, but somehow she feels like she'll be more exposed standing in a bathing suit and towel than in the warm water, even if he's towering over her. ]

Fine, sorry about your creepy shorts. [ Who wears leather shorts anyway? ] I don't know what you're talking about.

[Vex rolls his eyes.]

Okay, one? Why are you backing away. If I wanted to hurt you, I could have. Well, I could have made you hurt you but, you know, the same thing.

[And probably not at all reassuring.]

Two, they're not creepy. I didn't insult you, did I? And so you're not an elemental then? I kind of assumed with the water manipulation. So not fae then?

Yeah, you got that point across pretty effectively.

[ She definitely comes off sounding a little bitchy with that but, why wouldn't she? He hasn't exactly made the best impression. Granted, she was the one that started it but, still. Bonnie kind of assumed he was from her world, scared that maybe she finally met an Original who was capable of compulsion on a witch or even worse, something entirely new.

It's almost a relief to realize he isn't from her world at all. ]

No, I'm not fae. I'm a witch.

Come on. It was just a bit of fun.

[Though he does light up a bit, moving to sit back down, hunching over closer to her. Seeing her a bit more on his level with that admission.]

Well then. Witch it is. I was dark fae before this place but, you know, no Morrigan, no dark so...

[Sounding cheerful about it, practically friendly now.]

You been here long? I haven't much but I could get used to this place. Not too bad. So many nonhumans, which works. Used to living in the human world.

[ Bonnie is still watching him quietly, her eyes tracking him as he sits down, a little relieved to find him coming closer to her level. He's telling her all these things now, things she doesn't understand and her brain is doing somersaults to try and catch up. ]

Yeah, I guess that's one thing this place has going for it. [ Not many humans. She is, of course, technically. Not that she is eager to share the facts about her own mortality with a complete stranger. ] I just got here so, no, not long.

Dark, like... Bad guys? [ That's the way that works, right? ]

I ran a nightclub back home, and so I had to maintain a persona, you know? [He rolls his eyes as he says it.] So much damn harder than you would think.

[Though after that, his nose wrinkles at the comment about bad guys.]

No, like not hiding who and what we are from others. Light are sadistic fuckers too, but they coat it with sugar and fluff and pretend they're better than others. In the end though, they're just as cruel and messed up as anyone else, they just want you to believe they're better.

[He rolls his eyes again, making a face.]

Dark fae just know who they are, and they're not going to play games as if they're something else. The courts though, they're not that different, no matter how much they pretend.

Yeah, pretending not to be a creepy jerk was probably pretty hard on you.

[ She keeps her eyes narrowed at him. She's spent a lot of time dealing with jerks lately; people who abuse their power, vampires who let their nature get the best of them. Bonnie isn't exactly fond of them, or fond of anyone who abuses that kind of power.

On the other hand, how much could she really judge? How many witches has she met so far who had fallen victim to that kind of control? ]

There's some weird stuff where I'm from. But I don't think we have anything like fae.

Though, let's be honest, humans are really way creepier than I can ever be, and then they pretend it's all normal. Suuuuure it is. Come on, you know it's true.

[He truly believes in the worst in humans, just like the worst of himself, but at least he's honest about it.]

That you know of. I mean, in my world witches are few and fae between but we can find them. Makes you wonder how many supernaturals they have here, total. Seems a lot more than the humans. So then you have to wonder why. Least I do.

[ Omg that fae pun though he's so laaaaaame. ]

I have less problems with people than I do with other supernatural people. But my town back home is over run with them.

[ She's not planning on going in specifics. Even if just a year ago she probably wouldn't care much about outing the vampires, things had changed. She had Caroline to protect now, and Elena. She was even starting to feel a little loyalty towards Damon, begrudgingly as it was. ]

Maybe there are just a lot of worlds out there that have supernatural creatures than not. Or maybe whatever magic is at work here just prefers them. [ Bonnie isn't thrilled by it, but it's given her more reason to hone her craft, to become as powerful as she can. ]

Were you raised in it? I was raised in the fae world, surrounded by them. Some though... they feel like you do and she wasn't raised with us like she should have been.

[Bo kept siding with the humans, and he always figures that's why. Raised amongst them and not knowing what she was.]

Over run with them, or you just know they're everywhere? In our town, most humans don't know but we've always been there.

Which is interesting since they just let us loose on the populace. Survival of the fittest, I guess. [He shrugs, considering that.] But they throw death traps at us, and then put the humans on the same games? Sounds like someone doesn't like them much.

No, I wasn't raised in it. I didn't even know about my powers til pretty recently. But I've been through my fair share so, don't take that as I sign that I don't know what I'm doing.

[ The Bennett line is powerful. At least she has that to her advantage. ]

Definitely overrun. [ At this point, the historical vampire problem is pretty much the worst kept secret in Mystic Falls. ] I mean, there's still humans who don't know but, I think they are getting harder to find at this point.

You know, they might also assume we aren't going to use our powers to hurt the humans here, either. We already have enough going on here without us all turning on each other.

[Frowning then, looking utterly hurt for her.]

Why would they assume that? Their hobby is throwing death and dismemberment at us, and then they just bring in whoever to cope with it? You don't think that's not going to end badly?

Corner people and they will do whatever they can to survive. Kill the leaders. Kill one another. Whatever it takes.

[He shrugs as if it was no big deal.]

I'm fine, seriously. I'm glad I didn't know about it. Kinda wish I still didn't.

[ Powers or not, her life hasn't exactly been awesome since she found out about vampires. ]

Yeah, maybe. But people can pretty quickly find themselves on the same side when they have a common enemy. [ She's seen it herself after all; Elijah helping them to kill Klaus, Damon working along with them. ] Not sure I really want you on my side, though.

[ What? He sounds like a jerk. ]

[He frowns then, looking utterly confused and uncertain about her and the things she was saying.]

Okay, I'll bite and not in the fun way. Why wouldn't you want to know? Even if it isn't how you were born, are you saying there aren't more reasons why you need to be who you are, than not?

[He just can't imagine, living fae all his life and trying to imagine not being it literally made him shudder.]

Now that I can understand. How I ended up sided with people I would actually call friends. We all shared the same enemy. The Morrigan, and the Ash, and half the fae world it feels some days.

[Rolling his eyes at that, though he only rarely questions his choice to shift sides as he has.]

See, that's a mistake. You always want the ambiguously gray guy that will do what you won't and get away with it. The one whose open to changing side and changing his mind. Glad Bo and Kenzi figured that out. They were always the more fun side of things. Also they didn't commit genocide against my entire species of fae, so there's that.

[His expression darkened then, but not getting angry. Just bitter.]

I've been through a lot. I've watched people I care about die. I don't know if I would take it all back but at the same time, I wonder what my life would be like if I could.

[ She always assumed Grams was nuts, that all the talk of psychics and witches was just a sign of senility. Bonnie often wonders how simple her life could have been if she hadn't ever found out the truth.

Of course, it could also mean more of her friends dying. It could mean losing Elena and even Caroline. ]

I have enough ambiguously gray guys in my life. [ Damon was the epitome of gray. Whatever side he ends up on is the side that's in his best interest, loyalty be damned.

The last comment catches her off guard, though. As much as she would like to wipe out all vampires (and almost did when she had the chance), it still weighed on her mind. There were some vampires she didn't want to harm, like Stefan and Caroline. Her mind was slowly starting to change, as much as she didn't want it to. ]

Why would someone want to wipe out your species?

How many have you saved from dying? How many more would have died without you having that ability that you have?

[He isn't one who has done the same, or saved any lives himself - well not many, but he's seen this. The guilt and the pain from loss. He doesn't entirely get the guilt, but he definitely gets that people feel it. Why? He never knows but it's there.]

No one ever has enough. If we did, the world wouldn't need us. And the world does need guys like me. It likes to pretend otherwise, but the fact that we thrive proves otherwise.

[He shrugs, but Vex doesn't answer right away. No quick answer to that question like he seems to have to the others.]

Because people get scared, and they fear things. Then they kill what they fear. No matter if they deserve it or not. Fear usually wins out.

[ His question silences her, because he's right. She tries to place a lot of the blame on what's happened on the Salvatores; Grams' death, the vampires escaping the tomb, Caroline's turning... The truth is she blames herself as equally. Bonnie isn't sure she's done more harm than good.

But of course, she has to think about the things she has done. She has to think about how she's going to save Elena, no matter the odds. ]

I guess there's a point to everything. [ Life and death, good and bad. Bonnie has learned there is a place for all of it, as well as the fact that there is so much in between. Her comment serves as a response to both her own situation and his; they both exist the way they do for a reason, and as much as Bonnie might be cynical about it all, she also knows there is a balance that has to be maintained. ]

I definitely get that. I guess... I've kind of been there. [ Back when she wanted to kill Damon, back when Stefan would just be a casually if he got in the way. How had things changed so quickly? ] What is your species, exactly?

[Monster that he is, Vex has been around Bo and Kenzi long enough now to know this. That guilt that all seem prepared to carry with them, as if it is necessary to keep being a decent semblance of a human being. Maybe they're right, given he lacks both guilt, or decency, but he hates watching the girls in his life go through this and he'd rather not watch this woman go through it too.]

Yeah, it sucks when the assholes have a good point, huh? I try and do it often, just to get those pissed off looks.

[It's a bad sense of humor, but he's known since he was little that it is one of the few things to get him through his life all these years.]

Fae. As in, yes, fairies. Well that's the genus, I guess? Fae encompasses a lot. The specific kind that was slaughtered is a mesmer.

[He holds up his hand again though he doesn't use the ability this time.]

How we control people, how we feed, and a horrific and disgusting way to murder us slowly as well.

With the things that exist where I'm from? I'm not going to laugh at you about fairies.

[ She doesn't. Bonnie's face is actually really serious and concerned. She doesn't like this, knowing that there are things here that aren't back home. Back home, she knows what she is capable of and how her powers can protect her and her friends. Here, she doesn't know anything. ]

That's how you did that thing earlier... How you controlled me.

That's going to put you ahead of a lot of people here. Some of them aren't even aware of supernatural beings, nonetheless know how to handle them.

And you've got a start with me. I don't tell everyone, but you're a witch and I've had some good dealings with witches before.

[And some bad, though he can't think of a species he hasn't had a bad time with. That's what happens when you're the head enforcer for the Dark, after all.]

Yeah, that would be it. I don't tend to use it too much. Not around here. I mean, there may be bigger and badder, but it's the lack of backing that slows me down here.

[One way or another, he had alliances back home. Not so much here.]
