( the chemistry between them is hardly a surprise given their certain history and first blush flirtations, but feeling the flare of it, his sure smile lingering, fills him with a warmth and heat he welcomes. he welcomes even more the reflection of interest in those beautiful eyes of hers. enzo lingers, keeping her gaze. ) Bonnie. ( he says her name, not as if he is tasting it for the first time, but as if he is in equal gratitude and admiration of its owner. and he is. he is grateful to see her again.

he moves to take his seat, but first he leans over the table to offer his hand. ) I'm Enzo.

[ It's the way he says her name, first. Not like it's new to him, not like he's testing it on his tongue, memorizing it as you do someone who you plan to encounter again. It catches her off-guard, causing her to hesitate before she extends her own hand to meet his. ]

[ Bonnie hasn't even started to understand the mysteries of this place, or how any of it is possible. She knows there are other witches here, vampires, creatures that aren't even imagined in her world. She also knows her powers (for as new as they are, comparatively, after what she has learned) haven't lessened, either, so it shouldn't be a surprise to feel that familiar ripple through her, that knowing that has become all to familiar to her since Stefan and Damon Salvatore waltzed into Elena's life.

It doesn't stop her, though, from pulling her hand away like she's touched fire. It's a giveaway, a novice move, but she's been so overwhelmed here that she can't keep herself together enough to play dumb. Not with the way this feels. So strange and so... calculated. Her jaw tightens. ]

( it's not his intention to be calculated. contrary to a powerful and cautious witch's belief, he intends with pure and wholesome motives to be honest. the bonnie he knows — the one he left behind — has not been brimming with magics for some time, forced to endure an existence without, in hiding as she is.

he doesn't anticipate that one touch between them will set off alarms, but her knee-jerk reaction has him rueful. enzo pauses at it, stills where he is, hovering halfway over the table and halfway into his seat, and then breaks into a chastened smile.

he's not concerned, transparency considered. enzo sits, his expression at ease and equally open and warm. ) You haven't experienced the pleasure yet. ( the answer is a tease and a flirt, though not meant to be smug.

he adds, with a sincerity, ) But I look forward to being your friend, Bonnie. If you'll have me. ( he searches her eyes minutely at the last. the truth is when he learned about time discrepancies and the notion of her being here at all, he wasn't elated. (if she doesn't remember him, then they've both lost something. if she's here, she's hardly safe.)

[ Bonnie is still watching him carefully, wishing that she had a better idea how to read him. This odd stranger, someone who she was almost sure must be from her world, unless there were other vampires running around here, other creatures that her powers could sense.

She has no reason to believe him, though. No reason to send him away, as much as her mind says this is dangerous. Vampires and witches aren't supposed to be friends.

But Bonnie has already broken the rules, she's already broken so many more. First Stefan, then Caroline... Her childhood best friend who she could never turn her back on. She knows she continues to change, to befriend even Damon, who she would have not hesitated to try to kill.

Who she did try to kill, after what happened to Caroline. After what Bonnie had asked him to do. ]

Right. [ Bonnie presses her lips together thoughtfully. She can't deny some strange draw to him, his cool swagger, that clear accent. It hard to fight between her teenage hormones and her brain, and it's got her in trouble before. She still likes Jeremy, though, still thinks about him and misses him. There's a part of her that still belongs with him, as far away as she might be. ] Why do you want to be friends with me?

[ If he doesn't know her, he doesn't know what she is or what she is capable of. It's that, perhaps, that may work in her favor. ]

[ She can't help the furrow of her forehead, the annoyance in way her eyes narrow. She's not sure if he's being smarmy of this is just him; the accent makes it hard to figure out, and her patience is running thin. ]

Maybe because I wouldn't hesitate to kill you if I have to.

[ Maybe she puts too much faith in her powers, given what she's been through recently. That won't stop her from laying it out there; vampires need to know to not mess with a Bennett witch, no matter how hot they are. ]
