Todd laughs. It makes his whole face scrunch up. "No, that's Farah, she's our, um, partner I guess? She put in the money to start the business. Amanda's my little sister. She has the same condition I do, she's had it a lot longer though. She's the one who calls me in a few moments."

And sure enough, in the memory, he answers the phone, relief turning to fear and horror.

"It's neurological. We have hallucinations that things are happening to us, horrific things, and we experience it like it was really happening." He tells himself it's not real, but it doesn't actually make it hurt any less.

"I guess that's good, though, that your worst moment is something that you know turns out just fine. I mean you're what? Nineteen? Eighteen? Probably best if your life doesn't have anything too horrible yet."
