I. Second Time's The Charm This... this looks awfully familiar, and... familiar in an awful way. Look around all you like, it won't change, it won't go away. You are in Wonderland. No, worse: You're back in Wonderland. Just when everything was nice and comfortable at home, or-- or wasn't it? Maybe you're happy to be here again. Hey, no judgement, free room and board is nothing to scoff at! Blessing or curse, that's really up to you; all you know for sure is that, apparently, you're here to stay. II. What will you children do next? It's time for another wonderful event in Wonderland! For its duration characters will suddenly find themselves ten years older or younger. This can be physically, mentally, or both, i.e., if your character is 20 years old right now, they may become 10 physically but still have the mind and memories of their 20-year-old self, or they may revert to the mentality of their 10-year-old self and lose all the memories they have of being older. Characters over 200 years old may even age by a century, as a decade isn't that long for them. III. Through The Looking-Glass What an extraordinary day! All of Wonderland's mirrors-- just the things, not the capital Mirrors, not the ones like you --are suddenly shattered! Shards on the floor as far as the eye can see, and empty frames that are just begging to be stepped through! Oh, but you should really stay on your side unless the Queen of Hearts orders it otherwise. Or should you? Who's to say she wouldn't want you to investigate? Go ahead, go on, explore the real side for a change! Or... stay put right where you are, and see who comes to visit. It's really up to you. IV. Wildcard Play out your character's arrival. Celebrate their anniversary. Choose a different event to experience. Do anything and everything you like! |

And there she is, a woman with a face like a traffic light. Deer in the headlights, well, perhaps that as well, but above all the expression is a signal, it has become that as inevitably as answering a ringing phone, a knock on the door, as rising with the sound of the alarm.
It's Pavlov's dog, but without the bell and a brochure instead. Ding dong, she looks lost. Philip approaches, and holds the pamphlet out towards her. His smile is apologetic. Wonderland won't be. ]

She frowns and takes a step closer. A pamphlet? What, is he a Jehovah's Witness or something? ]
Um. Thanks?
[ She takes the pamphlet, her frown deepening when she reads it. ]
Is this some kind of joke?

He holds his hand up, hang on, the gesture for that, something vague mouthed in silence (because silence is all there is these days), give him a second, as he flips open his communication device and starts to type. Almost got it. ]
Probably. Very elaborate one at that. Been going on for years. Still waiting for the punchline myself.
[ Proximity negates the need for transmissions. He flips the display, and hands it over for inspection. ]

So I didn't crack my head open on the pavement? This place is... [ She looks around a moment, taking everything in again. ] This place is real?
no subject
Good thing he's getting pretty fast at typing. ]
Not unless the pavement is the last thing you remember. Not to throw a wrench into this so far incredibly believable story, but we do have a few dead people here. Plenty of live ones as well, though. So no, not the afterlife. And real enough, for all intents and purposes.
[ A flick of his hand, the same spiel, almost. He quickly jerks the phone back into his grasp, because hang on, he can't quite relinquish it just yet, there's still-- ]
If you think about it, the only other possibility is that I'm a figment of your imagination, and do you honestly think that little of your imagination?
[ All right, now you can have it back. Honestly, if you're going crazy then the least you deserve is a young James Dean. ]
no subject
She laughs as she reads, bringing a hand to cover her mouth. ]
Oh no, I'm sorry. You're ... [ She gives him a quick once over. He does sort of look like something her imagination would supply, if not a little worse for wear. And he'd probably be able to talk, but that's not the kind of thing she should say out loud. ] I've definitely seen worse than you.
[ Right. A little awkward, but she clears her throat and moves past it. ]
So we're in what? Limbo? Or -- [ She glances at the pamphlet again, and waves it around. ] Wonderland?
