[The good news for Soos is that Dipper actually loves the caves. They're one of his favorite places to explore, or even just hang out in and think when he wants to be alone (or at least unmonitored by the Mirrors.)

He's sitting in one of the caves, writing in a notebook, and he only barely glances up when Soos comes in. It's not the first time Soos has shown up somewhere weird. And he's in the middle of making a particularly interesting code.]

Oh, hey, Soos.

Wait. Wonderland. Soos isn't here. Or wasn't here. He hasn't seen Soos in months. He jumps up, notebook falling to the floor, and grins.]

[He runs in to hug him. He's missed Soos.]

Hey, Dipper! [ He's like 80% less convinced he has to become a cave-dwelling subspecies now, because Dipper seems way too calm and bathed to be in the same boat. That's cool. ] I'd say it's funny running into you here, buuut I dunno, dude. Kinda makes sense.

They really are! The rocks in here are nothing like anything I've seen before. [He bounces on his heels, grinning.]

This whole places is amazing. And Mabel and Stan are here too!

Oh, sweet! [ This is relieving on so many levels. Stan is here, which usually ups a situational enjoyment factor a lot. Plus, his not-yet-concern about where Mabel is gets knocked the heck down. She's probably just burnt out on cool rocks.

Some people like more variety and/or bezazzling capacity in their caves. You gotta respect that. ]

This place must be a pretty big deal for you to be so hyped up about it, huh? Paranormally-speaking. [ Or.... smart guy-speaking. He's still gauging that one. It's nice to see Dipper excited about stuff either way. ] Real talk: if you're lookin' for a magical boiler, I totally got you covered already.

There's a magical boiler? [The boiler is... not something Dipper has thought about much, but it makes sense. He waves a hand.]

Never mind, of course there is. But yeah! We're in Wonderland, Soos! As in Alice in! And it's nothing like the book!

Nice, dude! [ HIGH FIVE. There's absolutely a magical boiler. Soos has no other way to explain why it's even working. Which is pretty cool? He can show Dipper the boiler later.

Unless he just imagined it while he was trapped in a labyrinth of chaos and complexity the likes of which his mind couldn't comprehend. But that's gotta be a sixty-forty chance. ]

I guess never reading the book was great for helping my expectations in the long-term after all. Oh man, tell me we can hit up some flamingo croquet! [ HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY CROQUET BUT HE'LL LEARN. If "nothing like the book" also means "a lot like that one movie which he is assuming is different from the book". ]

I mean, I haven't, but there isn't much you can't do here. Have you checked out the closets yet? [A beat.] Have you picked a room even?

[ Dipper knows the true value of a high-five. Sometimes there's no time to film one and then edit in a clip-art hand. Soos is also going to laugh the question off a little, because he feels comfortably to the point where he can do that kind of thing. Now that he knows there's more than basement and cave area. ]

I haven't even made it past the caves yet! [ Literally like getting stuck on a video game level. Just wandering around going "well what now". ] Talk about some egg on my face.

Are you lost? I know these caves really well. I can show you how to get out.

[They're still not exactly easy to navigate, but Dipper spends enough time exploring that he at least has a feel for them. And a flashlight.]

I'd so owe you one, dude. I had to make a whole life strategy based on being a caveperson for a while there. Nothing against how cool this place looks, but it was gonna get boring once I got used to it. [ And there would always be that question of what the heck his family, chosen and non, was getting up to at home. Things are better this way. ]

No worries if you wanna finish whatever you're workin' on first, though. Pretty sure I'm not about to get even more lost.

[ The good ol' pocket dimension vest. It's nice that it's doing okay. He was really waffling for those first couple of hours, but Soos is gonna go ahead and call this a good day in the making. That's the magical Pines superpower or something right there. He loves it. ]
