[The image flickers on, though the jaunty angle of feed suggests that the current videoing is a result of ignorance combined with apathy; true enough, Rin had tossed it on her new bed, the device spurring to life as it hit a small stack of hefty books. A young woman in a red sweater makes it into the frame, despite the heavy Dutch angle and bits of the feed being blocked by the musty bindings and beds sheets. She stands stiffly, arms crossed, finger tapping her arm with increasing levels of agitation. However, her eyes remain locked on her door for minutes on end, her compiling frustration blatant and nearly tangible.

Without warning, her boiling point hits; as her arms fly down to her sides with clenched fists, she lets out an angry and exasperated... squeak. All it takes is a curt turn on her heel for her to all but stomp back to the bed and the device, reaching for it as she mutters to herself with a biting tone.]

Where is that damn Archer? What good is having a servant in this place if they don't report in on time---

[Oh. This thing is on.

Oh.

For how long, she can only guess. A warm tint rises to her cheeks, followed a brief moment of freezing in horror. However, she quickly forces down the embarrassment, setting it aside for her to writhe over with when the feed is, you know, off. Regaining composure, she addresses whomever may be listening. With the moment's resolve in place, her expression is firm and unwavering, far too serious for her age.]

I'd like to know what changes Wonderland places upon foreign magics and -for lack of a simpler term- preexisting spells.

Please respond promptly. Thank you.

There was still no word from her servant. It wasn't terribly surprising, considering the altercation between the two before the surprise of being sucked away into Wonderland. It was, however, immensely frustrating. Archer owed her, as far as she was concerned; however, waiting around on others or even in general (unless for strategic purposes) wasn't much her style. Not quite sure what to expect from this new world, Rin opts to wandering the mansion, winding her way higher and higher until she finds the access to the roof. The impossibility of the mansion's layout is fascinating; she'd love to reverse engineer whatever magic ruled the physics of this place. However, that's a hobby for later. For now, getting to know this new place, getting used to expecting its odd rules, is most important.

All too casually, she makes her way to the edge of the roof, standing on the ledge. Minutes pass, but she keeps her precarious position, observing -but otherwise not recognizing- any people below. The breeze is pleasant, gently brushing through her hair, but its draw is fleeting. Rin inches closer to the edge, until her toes hang off, almost daring the wind to blow the other direction.

In this position, another series of long moments pass. Abruptly, she cuts them short. Bending at the knees, this newcomer leaps off the structure into a free fall.

[In his own way, Kanji has been wondering the same thing, though he wouldn't call the power he's concerned about magic. It's also something he's learned not to talk about freely, but that doesn't keep Rin's message from catching his interest.]

Magics?

[He's as new an arrival as she is, but the idea that this place might be magic hadn't really occurred to him-- though now that he thinks about it, he's not sure what else to call it. He'd thought it might be some part of the TV world he'd never seen before, but it's all wrong. No fog, no shadows-- none of what he'd come to expect from his visits to the other side.]

You're talking about real magic? [A beat.] I'm not sure I buy the whole Wonderland story yet. Seems kinda fishy. Isn't that from some kids' book?

[Face firm with both a practiced and forced seriousness, Rin gives an affirmative nod.]

Yes, real magic. And yes, from the books by Lewis Carroll. Could be the real deal, could be a copycat. I'm not even sure there's a way to tell.

Names aside, we're still here, and then there's the fact that this place has the strength to pull us from our original worlds. Figuring out what else it has influence on is important, especially now that we're trapped here.

[The words sit heavy on her own tongue. It would be so easy to read Archer's and her mystic kidnappings as cosmic interference, as a way out of the Holy Grail War. Only blood and pain and strained alliances await back home. Yet, she can't shake the feeling that this world isn't entirely benevolent in its ability to steal people away. Something that powerful, something strong enough to overcome the force and paths set in motion by the Grail isn't something she can take lightly or blindly trust.]

In my case, finding out if Wonderland has any effect on my abilities as a Tohsaka mage or the bond with my servant could prove vital. I don't believe a worse-case-scenario is around the corner, but it would be foolish not to prepare for it.

[And yanno, find out if Archer is just being a jerk and ignoring her or if their magic bond is being interfered with. Both are plausible.]

[He's never read the book himself, but he'd known it sounded familiar. He grimaces, shifting uncomfortably on his end of the feed. He has to wonder if it's this world that pulled them in, or someone else that pushed them-- that's the way it had been when people got dragged to the other side back home.]

Servant? Like some kind of magic butler or somethin'?

[Asking questions seems like the best way to keep things moving, find things out.]

So you're thinking it's possible for this place to have taken your power away.

[Shit. If that's the case, the same could be said for him and his Persona, and he doesn't want to think about being stuck here without Rokuten Maoh.]

A "familiar" is a better term. But yes, magic nonetheless.

As for my powers, they seem intact, though to what extent I can use them...

[She shakes her head. There's no way to really test it unless she can find someplace secluded outside the mansion. And even then, testing Gandr -among other spells- would be noisy and destructive. She'd have to be careful.]

My biggest concern is my bond with my servant. [She pauses for a short beat; it probably doesn't do any good to leave it at something so vague. Besides, the information is well known across her world; anyone can learn it, granted they had access to a magi willing to speak.] Masters and servants share a magical linking -if you will- that allows us to keep in contact and supplies the servant with the master's mana --magical energy, more or less.

[He frowns a little more, thoughtful-- and looking almost like it pains him.]

Familiar. What's familiar about 'em?

[He is so not a magic kind of guy.]

Okay. That makes sense. So you're tryin' to get in touch with your servant, but they're not picking up?

[So to speak. He gets, at least, that she's not trying to call this guy on the phone.]
