[It's pretty weird the way Billy doesn't hug him back. Even when Billy's on a bad day, he usually at least leans into Teddy. A little confused and hurt, he pulls back slightly, arms dropping to his side.]

Like... the Mad Hatter and that kind of thing?

[It sounds... kind of crazy, honestly. But it's Billy telling him, and Billy doesn't always tell the whole truth, maybe, but he doesn't lie. Not usually to Teddy, anyway.]

A year and a half? I saw you about an hour ago, though. Just before I ended up here. You said you'd meet me at the base.

[ Billy runs a hand through his hair before resting it on the back of his neck. ]

Yeah, Mad Hatter, but we don't have a Mad Hatter. Alice is here. She had no eyes...[ Probably not what he should have gone with. ]

Ok, its as far as we, the people here, can figure out an alternate dimension. It pulls people in from different worlds, some worlds we know from books or movies, and it keeps us here for random amounts of time before it sends us back to the exact moment we were taken from. When we leave we have no memory of ever having been here before.

You were here for a while already.

[Really, probably not what to go with, not if the look on Teddy's face is anything to go by.

But he still- doesn't have any reason to doubt Billy, not when he has no idea what happened to bring him here, so although he rubs a hand over his face he doesn't actually argue it. No point.]

No America to punch us out of here either, then?

[He frowns.]

You're sure it was me, not another version of me?

[The look on Teddy's face is nothing new. He's seen it before both on Teddy and on everyone else who ends up here. There is really no easy way to explain this place.]

No America. Even if she was here she could punch through dimensions. I can't even access them, or get out. Something about his place- it's like a realm all its own not connected to anything we know. I've been trying to figure it out for a year and a half now.

[He frowns as well. That's a loaded question. Because he definitely hadn't been the Teddy he knew, but he was still Teddy.]

It was you. Not weird alternate universe you. I checked. [A lot. Because there were times he wasn't sure.]

So... it's a big cage, then. At least no-one will be missing it, if time really doesn't pass.

[He reaches for Billy's hand, squeezing it gently, although he's ready to let go as soon as Billy seems uncomfortable.]

But- a year and a half? You okay?

[A lot can happen in a year and a half. They'd spent less time than that on the run, that time. And Billy- he wonders if Billy still has bad days.]

I'm sorry. I- don't remember it, at all, which I guess is proof that people forget when they do leave here. If I was here and went though- how?

Yeah, big cage, big prison. It could be worse. This place provides everything you could need or want. And there are a lot of interesting people. [He shrugs letting Teddy squeeze his hand before pulling back. He'd really gotten used to this place in the last year and a half.]

I'm...doing ok. [He was, most days he was good, he had friends here and Wanda, they kept him from losing it.]

How were you here and then gone? We don't know. That's what we're always trying to figure out. There doesn't seem to be any patterns. No way of knowing how this place chooses people and why. It's magic is old and strong- stronger than mine even. And even Loki couldn't figure it out.
