I don't think there's any "usually how it goes," with this.

[true, foggy probably would try to make a pop culture reference or five, but karen is trying to stick with actual things that actually happen in reality and none of this seems like it's got anything to do with that. she does take the time to consider what matt's saying as she leads them towards the stairs.]

She's already in control here, though. Why build an army? Who is she going to attack?

Maybe. But if we're really in a so-called Wonderland, we can't really rule anything out, can we?

[ She said it herself, they got kidnapped into some magic house that grants wishes. Things could not get much weirder. ]

Good question. [ He shrugs. ] Maybe if we could ask her, it'd get us closer to figuring out why we're here in the first place.

[karen's definitely agitated by the suggestion. the queen was a tyrant, who ruled over wonderland with an iron fist and kidnapped people]

What, she's just going to tell us her whole plan? And then the avengers can just swoop on in and save the day? I'm pretty sure that's not how it goes at all.

[it hits a nerve, but only because the stuff with fisk was so recent. only because they could've never just waltzed on up to him and asked him why he did the shitty things he did.

then again, she'd been told exactly why she'd been kidnapped last time. she'd also shot someone in the face for it. so lets just go with there's definitely not a usually for this at all.]

I'm--- I'm being hypothetical here, Karen.

[ Obviously Matt is more of a storm the castle or sneak into the castle as it were but he's gotta at least pretend. ]

Well, I'm saying we should be thinking in more than just the hypothetical. Hypothetical isn't going to get us home.

[but this conversation has gotten them to the kitchen, so hooray for that.]

And do what? Storm her castle and demand results when she has an army at her disposal?

[karen closes off from him a little bit, stubborn and wanting to pursue the question but also knowing matt isn't going to budge. fine. she doesn't need matt's approval to act.]

We're here. I'll start the coffee. It's still trailer-home-kitchen, so it's a little cramped.

[she slips out of his arm and goes to start the coffee machine. at least it's a lot like the one in the office - horrible, but within her range of expertise to use.]

[ They're both far too similar to make it past a stand off. Matt could raise his voice, but it's a pointless argument. He backs off, finding a chair instead. It's fairly easy-- cramped spaces are actually easier for him to navigate than open rooms. ]

Thanks. I've uh, I've actually never been inside a trailer home, so I wouldn't know.

Well. You're not missing out on anything.

[at least her voice is lighter for the comment. sometimes its hard for her to remember that matt really hasn't ever left new york, or that not being able to watch tv limits his experience with things. it makes up for his stubbornness in a way, a balance to it.]

It sounds very... [ Matt gestures around him. Of course he can't feel the room around him or anything. ] ...cozy.

[on either count, really. but it's not her kitchen, there's no need to pay it, or the shitty coffee that's coming from it, any compliments.]

We're stuck here. Might as well.

[ Matt shrugs. Visual descriptions vex him. ]

What do people normally eat on road trips?

[she's confused for a second, trying to figure out where that logical leap came from.]

No, no, the trailer homes that stay in trailer home parks. [beat] Unless you feel like this whole Wonderland thing is like a road trip, in which case you have really low standards, buddy.

I mean, don't people usually... take a trailer when they...

[ Look, he's very lost, he's so bad at this. ]

It is the farthest I've ever been from New York, so I guess we can go with that.

[matt may know about ninjas but he's pretty bad at Real World Stuff. It's okay though that's why he has trusty less-than-willing sidekicks.

tbh it's mildly endearing, in the way children are mildly endearing while you can still give them back to their parents at the end of a conversation.

anyways, after a moment:]

You're seriously considering top ramen, aren't you?

[ He laughs. At least he has a cute laugh going for him. ]

It'd be a taste from home.

Think they can make Thai food like the one down the street from the office?

[she opens up a cabinet and its full of top ramen, thanks for nothing.]

Well, it would definitely taste like something.

[she shuts the cabinet and goes for the fridge, which, hey, has something that smells like day old thai food.]

If there's no name on leftovers, do you think they're free for anyone?

[devilsavocado]

Like sodium, mostly.

[ Look okay, some people like crappy food maybe it's a martyr thing or a growing-up-orphaned thing, we'll never know. ]

I've never let names on leftovers stop me.

[ Get it, since he's blind. He totally shrugs. ]

That doesn't count you can't see names on leftovers.

[i mean come on thats the only reason she and foggy dont complain about things going missing in the fridge although she has the lurking suspicion that foggy is the true thief]

[ Matt will never tell, but it's probably him. And if anything even goes within an inch of going bad, you can bet Matt's the one that tosses it in the trash. ]

I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to work like that.

[but there's truly no label on these, wonderland made them appear just for matt so she pulls them out and goes to dish it out to a couple plates and microwave them. wow much kitchening]

I guess you're in luck, anyway.

[ Gotta get the perks while you can, y'know? But then Matt's starting to feel bad for having Karen do all the work so he stands-- ]

Please don't try. Did I mention this space is really tiny?

[ Times like these make you wish she knew you were Daredevil, huh, Matt?? And not a million other times when she really should have been told by now. ]
