[Bill knows that face well, in a way it also was once his, back in the days where Stanford allowed him to puppeteer the fleshy form all around the waking world. Those days must seem long gone to a human's small lifespan, not for Bill. For the dream demon it practically feels like yesterday, a mere blink of the eye. As it should. Because, as everyone knows, time isn't real.

For a moment he's tempted to just continue watching, curious as to what new horror the man would conjure for himself. Stanford's belief in him is so strong, Bill practically feels as though he exists in this realm already. Maybe the scientist would even crack enough to dream a fake replica to torture himself with; Bill wouldn't have a lift a finger at all.]

"OBSERVANT as ever IQ!"

[But where would the fun in that be?
Bill takes his time in appearing for once. A glimmer of gold off a shiny surface here, a quick blink of yellow in a reflection there-]

"I MEAN, all the telltale signs are there, that monochrome backdrop, the whimsical music, THAT FACE YOU MAKE whenever I'm IN YOUR THOUGHTS."

[-Before finally eclipsing the grey-scale glow of the triangular portal, peering down to the man at last.]

"But this IS YOUR DREAM. You tell ME, what's REAL."
mviw: (get out of my head you hipster freak)

[The hair on the back of Ford's neck stands up. He bristles and feels the lucidity of the mindscape as he hasn't felt it since the dreams he had at home. Not since the warning from Bill, before everything went to literal hell.

It feels like just yesterday Bill was always in his mind. Thirty years isn't enough time to separate Ford from both the good and bad of their deal.

Ford is pale. The illusion of his form returns to person he is in Wonderland. It's a defense, using his sense of self against the fear of losing his mind.]

You're not here. It's just a dream! That's all it is.

[Though usually his dreams have had him in blue chains if they involved Bill. Ford is tense, waiting for that other shoe to drop; for the electricity to fire through him and for the dream to end.]

[Bill, for all intents and purposes, practically seems to not be listening. He croons with mocking fondness, still floating out of Stanford's grasp.]

"THERE'S THE FACE."

[Based on the dream's start, they weren't in Gravity Falls. While room displacement was hardly an odd occurrence in dreams, this one seemed too specific. Little details in this room didn't entirely line up with Ford's usual memories of the place. Perhaps playing along will get the man to talk..]

"Alright, YOU'RE THE BOSS, how's this one usually go?"

[A desk with a stack of papers, presumably a test, lands in front of Stanford, a Geometry problem with bill waves to him- before shifting to a scene of a quiet beach, a sailboat is off in the distance, when directly above it, a bolt of lightning appears to shoot down towards the scrappy unsuspecting little vessel, before- yes, flashing once more to a brief view of the throne room in that Fearamid-]

"HELP ME OUT HERE, seem to have misplaced my script--"

[He'll let Ford hold the reigns for a while, let's see which imagery the man chooses to focus on first.]
mviw: (things change)

[personal profile] mviw 2016-05-25 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[It hits him that he's not thinking about any of these things. Letting your subconscious trip you up isn't something he's allowed too much in the last few decades, primarily out of practice when sleeping was actually possible.

The thing that makes Ford flinch isn't the room of the Fearamid but the bolt of lightning. He jerks and raises his hands up to his head on sheer impulse, and his stomach drops when his memories summon blue chains that dangle above him from the shadows.

Ford stumbles back away from them.

He's here. He's here!

Bill can't read Ford's mind, but he wouldn't have to in order to see the fear and anger in Ford's eyes.

Took long enough for him to figure it out.]

--It's frustrating isn't it? This is as close to my mind as you're going to get!

[He's here... He... oh God...]

"AHAHAHA--"

[Bill's eye narrows. Oh Stanford, he both loves and HATES that stubborn streak of yours]

"OH-- are you actually addressing ME this time? Or is this some sort of SICK FANTASY of yours?"

[Could go either way, really.]

"Maybe not right now, but with HOW EASY you make it for me to SNEAK INTO YOUR SLUMBERING CONSCIOUS, I wouldn't go WRITING home about it!"
mviw: (I know that laugh...)

[personal profile] mviw 2016-05-26 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Ford has the audacity to roll his eyes. It is a Pines family trait to laugh in the face of danger; a method of coping that may or may not be smart, but is no doubt innate.]

Don't flatter yourself. What do you want? The dimension I'm in is on lockdown, so there's no point in trying to drag me back to your frat party.

[If there is one thing to be thankful of as a flat, nearly featureless, levitating pyramid it is just that-- being nearly featureless. Oh, Bill's antics more than make up for his lack of usable expressions but there is a benefit to being hard to understand.

It meant it took a very well trained eye to tell when he was caught off guard.

Apart from a slightest shift of his slitted pupil, Bill keeps his demeanor in check. Maybe if no one remembers the way Weirdmageddon went, he can stop it from happening. Could this Ford be from an alternate timeline? Does he just have amnesia?]

"WHY, who says I want ANYTHING? Can't a guy drop by and check in on his old pal?"

[He needs to know more, and damn it all he is with the ONE mortal he can't get the answers from the easy way.]

"This WONDERLAND must be QUITE THE PLACE for you to ABANDON YOUR HOME so easily. You sure you REALLY have no intentions of going back?"
mviw: (Peanut nostrils happy clams.)

[personal profile] mviw 2016-05-26 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Ford notices something--perhaps a misstep?--but he isn't sure. There's so much wrong with this, he doesn't know where to start.]

You say that like I had a choice, which tells me-- [The light of realization sparks in his eyes.] ... You're fishing! Hah! And you're coming to me for information? [He wouldn't admit it in a million years, but that is a slight ego boost whether or not he's right in his assumption.]

I would be flattered, but electric shock torture isn't any way to treat an old pal and I'm not feeling very forgiving.

[That's Ford's very polite way of saying "suck it."]
