Cause they're my friend. Them and Chara both.

[And because he doesn't know how to explain "they were lost and confused and trapped in a time loop and also possessed by your child who was feeling pretty murder-happy at the time" without throwing Chara under the bus. Or, you know, how to explain it at all. It doesn't make any sense unless you already know about SAVES etcetera, and besides, it's not really his secret to share.]

How are you switching between talking about murder and pie so quickly?

[He knows exactly how. Mabel does the same thing sometimes. Cover up the bad stuff, talk about something more pleasant. But he's much more tolerant when it's coming from his sister than from anyone else.]

[Really, she won't be too surprised if they don't heed her warnings. Just like she's not surprised that her attempts to distract from the subject aren't working. Trying to talk about snail facts never worked, either.]
