Bedelia du Maurier | Hannibal (NBC)
[By far the most disconcerting thing is that she can't remember how she got here. There is no single moment living in her memory that explains where she is or the path that brought her here. She wanders the halls--each different, each strange in a new way--for a long time, hoping to remember something. The familiar feeling of helplessness and dread seeps into her, ice cold and heavy.
In one lonely hallway she stops, reaching out a hand to steady herself on the wall, and finds herself pressing her face into the wallpaper, other hand stretched over her mouth. She wants to scream. She knows not to.]
Bar
[This room feels warm. After so many unfamiliar spaces, this is the only place that brings any comfort. She can spot a few bottles of wine along the wall behind the bar. At least that is familiar. She sees several other people sitting at the bar, and gathers her self up before walking inside. The click of her high heels is slow and hesitant as she moves in and places herself at the bar.]
Wine, please. Anything red. Leave the bottle.
halls
his own wandering is more light-hearted, more out of curiosity than any sense of dread. later on, when he comes to terms with a) that he isn't dreaming; and b) he can't go home, he'll have his breakdown. but for now, all he sees is the woman.
the woman who he approaches, awkward and uncertain. )
Hey... ( it's quiet, much like scott. just something so she knows he's here. he keeps a respectable distance away in case she's got boundaries. ) You doing okay?
Re: halls
I'm...lost. [She takes a long, searching look around them.] Very. I'm not sure where--
[She doesn't finish out of fear that her voice will break and she'll appear even more ridiculous in front of this stranger.]
no subject
( he can see she's trying. that's the main point of it all, of course--that she's trying. scott half-wonders why he himself isn't as concerned about his location as this woman is, then supposes it's because he's got a horrible sense of depth perception. )
It looks like we're in some kind of mansion. ( duh, but maybe simple statements like that should help. ) I think our first order of business should be finding a window to look out of.
You know, so we can get a better idea of where the heck this place is.
You wanna go together?
no subject
She tries--she wants--to extend that same courtesy.]
Yes. I think that would be a good start, anyway. I was beginning to think this place was a windowless labyrinth but-- that's not likely the case, right? [She points behind herself.] Maybe...let's try this way?

( scott walks a little closer; no need to keep so much distance, he supposes, now that they've formed a 'party' of sorts. he tries to pay attention to her personal space to the best of his ability, though. she really had looked scared earlier. )
I'm Scott, by the way. ( how long is this freaking hallway? maybe long enough for some chit-chat. ) Scott Lang. What's your name?
no subject
Mr. Lang...Scott. Do you remember what you were doing before you came here? I have been trying to recall myself. I don't even know if I was awake. Suddenly I was just...here. Wherever here is.
bar
I'm, um, I'm not the bartender.
no subject
Oh. I see. Well, is there a bartender? Or perhaps this is a 'help yourself' sort of place.
no subject
[karen shrugs unhelpfully. she's looking for dive bar™ tequilla somewhere in this mess behind the bar.]
no subject
I don't know what you're looking for but I suppose you're welcome to join me in some of this... [she holds the wine bottle up, inspecting it] Merlot with no year on it. Not at all suspicious.
no subject
A little bit tempting, with a recommendation like that.

[Bedelia looks up at the young woman, blonde and thin, rather like herself when she was younger--but much taller. Not a familiar face, perhaps, but almost a nostalgic one. She wonders vaguely if this girl is anywhere near as naive as she once was. She smiles a little and picks up another glass.]
Lets find out which, hm? No doubt even vinegar would better than whatever you're searching for, tucked away under the bar.
no subject
Sure. We can share this experience.
no subject
The sickeningly sweet smell hits her first--not like any Merlot she's ever tasted, more like a Port that's sat long enough to become syrup. She grimaces, but takes a sip anyway. Big mistake.]
Well it appears I was wrong. It's not vinegar but it definitely isn't wine. My god, I hope all the wine isn't like this, or I'll have to find something else to drink here. [She shudders visibly at the thought.]
Did you try it?
no subject
I don't think it'll kill us, at least?
