[ Because Matt was a nerd all his life and took enough Spanish to want to impress girls with poetry. This kind of thing comes as naturally to him as fighting crime. ]
Te amo como se aman ciertas cosas oscuras, secretamente, entre la sombra y el alma.
[ Of course, the words don't carry their meaning when Matt says it. He doesn't know her. For all that the "why" matters to him, she's the one having to be around someone she must have once loved. ]

[ Her mouth curves up at one corner, like this is a genuinely fascinating fact. Looking for the familiar grooves. Finding the right fit. ]
Greek is poetic, but I never got the hang of the vowels there.
[ Lie. Heartbeat still steady, no change in motion. ]

[ More like Elektra was in his Spanish class so he stuck with it well past the point where he should have.
He hasn't heard enough of her lies to catch her tone, but he can hear her muscles move into a smile if he focuses. ]
You know Elektra?
[ I mean, he figures that's why Greek came to mind. Maybe in another life he asked her out instead of Elektra. Maybe in another life they ran in similar circles, killing similar people. (which they totally did) ]

May I call you Matthew?
no subject
Sure.
[ Matt really has to learn to up his spy game. ]

[ The useful things, kept in a way Natasha knew, stolen from her by Imus. Nothing of the other woman's heart — Natasha doesn't keep those, no one hands them to her. ]

I haven't forgotten you, have I?
[ You'd have to be crazy to forget a woman like this. He's either known her in a past life or something's up. ]
no subject
You missed an opening.
[ Couldn't forget someone like you, etc. etc. Natasha picks a table with plenty of light, far from the window. No snipers here, obviously, but it never pays to let oneself stagnate. ]
no subject
Hard to believe I could forget a woman like you.
[ There you go, just as requested. He'd pull the chair out for her but, y'know, he has to at least pretend he can't sense it. ]
So, a latte?
no subject
Good try, Matthew. Yes, I'll have a latte please.
no subject
The way I understand it here, if you wish it, it comes true, is that right?
[ Because that's not a loaded question or anything. ]
no subject
I know all your tricks. Why don't you see for yourself?
no subject
Alright, then I want a black coffee and a latte. Just like that?
[ Is he supposed to wave his hands? He waves a hand over the table anyway. Because he's really not used to this magic stuff. ]
no subject
[ She stands, and walks for the counter. ]
I'll get it, hold on.
[ He has to be at least pretending to be blind. The smell of coffee: black and a latte, explode in the room. Natasha carries the cups back. ]
no subject
Thanks.
no subject
[ She blows on hers lightly. It's hot. ]
So, how's the practice?
no subject
Finally getting off the ground, thankfully. Got a lot of press after our case against Wilson Fisk. We're hoping it translates into more paying clients.
[ Because yep, they still do plenty of charity cases. The hard days are behind them, or so he thinks. ]

Foggy and Karen?
no subject
[ They're an adorable team. And Matt hasn't self-destructed it into pieces quite yet. ]
no subject
Do you ever wonder what would happen if somewhere in your life, you'd made a different decision?
no subject
[ More like: always. But he'd save his dad, mainly. The rest isn't up for negotiation, really. ]
Is that what this is? You're from an alternate timeline?
no subject
[ Smoothly, like this is an entirely ordinary conversation. ]
The Matt I know is ginger. Funny, I always thought my type was brunets.
no subject
[ They don't have alternate universes on Netflix, ok. ]
From what I hear, you're a redhead too. At least back home.
no subject
[ Stirring her coffee. ]
You haven't seen the last of Wilson Fisk.
