[10 am probably shouldn't be early for any human, but John likes to keep bizarre hours. Most mornings, coming out of his and Mary's room means being greeted by too-enthusiastic neighbors or other citizens of the mansion. He leans against his door for a minute, taking the moment to light a cigarette. There's noise, amd his eyes flick up to see some new lady coming down the hall. He gives her half a nod, and a muffled greeting.]

Morning.

[Unlike Carol, John doesn't take great pains to hide his weapons. He doesn't advertise that he's packing, of course, but the gun into the front of his jeans is fairly obvious. It's just a fact of life to him- at some point, sometime, he might get caught in a corner and he'll need it close at hand, so why pretend?]

[Carol subtly glances him over, not one to ever question someone's right to carry a weapon. Not in her world or any other. But if she comes weapons out, she can't play the 'I'm just a tender hearted woman' card that gets her practically any information she wants.

At least, so far.]

[She nods her head toward the cigarette, maybe hasn't put two and two together that she can even ask the closet for those.]

[It would be nice to play innocent around here, but John already shot that chance in the foot. You know, with the willingness to arm children with firearms and the time he got shot faced and acted to burn the mansion.
