[Seeing such uncertainty in Sara’s eyes is quite a rare thing; it softens Rip to notice it now, when it finally dawns on him that she is truly, genuinely scared. He is not an open man by nature, certainly not by training, but in this moment he tries to hide nothing from her. Their situation on the whole can only be described as terrible by Rip’s estimation, yet at the present, in this very second that only exists between Sara and Rip?

They aren’t in danger. She’s safe, and he is confident of it.

Whatever answer she seeks, Sara seems to find. She offers up the information freely, and yes, more than Rip should know but also enough for him to understand. Like Raymond, Sara has been pulled from his future rather than the past.

A rather eventful future, from the way she makes it sound.]

That’s—an atomic bomb, really? [No, he shouldn’t ask. Yet some things simply can’t be helped, and Rip frowns as he thinks it through.] It sounds as if I’ve put in some emergency measures. Likely to protect the team, although I can only guess at my motivations or what it might ultimately do.

[Rip suspects Sara might already be able to guess at the truth. She at last lets him go, and Rip in turn grants the space she asks for with that step back. He’s not so far removed from his own arrival that he’s forgotten his own rather poor reaction to it.]

I’ve yet to experience any of what you’ve just described.
