He keeps his voice even. ]
How do you know that it's magic?
no subject
Well, gee, Clark, probably the fact that we're in a literal storybook world and that's one of the things that can actually hurt us. Also that's what everyone says.
no subject
His eyes flick to the S on that T-shirt. ]
Do you mind if we go somewhere private?
no subject
...yeah, that's probably a good idea. Uh.... [He points upwards. That's probably about as private as they can get.]
no subject
Before Kon has a chance to explain, Clark interrupts. ]
You know me, but I've never met you before. Who are you?
[ The resemblance, the symbol... his son? It's too hopeful. Clark waits. ]
no subject
[Clark hasn't met him? What? Kon takes a moment before answering, mostly because his mind is racing a little. Unfortunately, there is an all too easy explanation, cause Tim is here from the past and Batman doesn't know who he is. Freaking alternate universes.]
I'm... Superboy. Kon-El. Or... Conner Kent. [None of which is exactly a helpful answer. He rubs the back of his neck.] I'm your clone.
no subject
My clone?
[ Disbelief first, but it becomes anger quickly at the sense of violation. There'd be a good reason to make more Kryptonians, Clark's instinct is to jump to every ugly one first.
He looks away, folding his arms in thought. ]
How? Did I agree to this?
no subject
[He floats back, raising his hands. No, Clark definitely didn't agree to this, but Kon didn't clone himself. He's the product of Superman, Lex Luthor, and a dollop of mad science. He's glad he exists, but he's well aware that the process of coming into being wasn't exactly normal.
He's also pretty sure he shouldn't bring up where his human DNA came from. Not yet, anyway.]
And you were dead at the time.
no subject
I see.
[ It wasn't him, it was humans. What Clark can't figure out is why, but that doesn't feel like it's something for him to know anymore. ]
So... are you going to be... do you want to be Superman?
[ Kon didn't ask to be made in someone's image. ]
no subject
Well, obviously, you're not, but also the you from my universe.
no subject
That's a little hard to believe.
[ He knows he's dead, the idea of... someone, or even who he is making that otherwise is a terrifying prospect. That's without taking "magic" into account.
They never did test the limits of his ability to heal. ]
Where I'm from, [ his universe, Kon called it. ] they're probably creating you.
no subject
[Well that's... damn. Even knowing it's happened, it's weird thinking of Superman as someone who can die. Someone who just did die? This is... confusing.]
I'm sorry. Doomsday?
no subject
[ He nods, just a faint affirmation. It's not really important. ]
What do I call you?
no subject
[He has a lot of names. He's been Superboy the longest, but it's not like that's a real name.]
You might not stay dead. A lot of people don't. And like I said, you specifically didn't.
no subject
All right. We'll see what happens.
[ He said Kon first, so Clark will use that. ]
What do you call me?
