actually, his prior choice of food really was crazy. She glances up from her eggs, pausing a moment before asking,] Did you eat that a lot?
[She can't fathom why it would have been anyone's first choice.]
no subject
Well, I think I can pretty much eat anything that's there so... Kind of?
[You don't really think about eating habits when you're used to scrounging around for food.]
no subject
[That's upsetting, almost. Not enough that he eyes shift away from their dead state, but her fork does hover her food a second longer than usual. There hadn't always been meals ready at home, but at least the fridge and cupboards were stocked enough that Ray could put something together when everyone else was in no mood for a family dinner. Her floor had been the same, with how specific she'd been in getting it set up. Cereal and soda in the same bowl was just...wrong... His new choice is fine, though.
Ray lightly nudges her hot sauce in his direction. It's good on pizza, too!!! She doesn't have busted tastebuds from eating so much spicy food!!]
So you were the first to try a lot of things. I don't think anyone else would have thought to put them together.
no subject
[... Okay, maybe he'll push the hot sauce away. Seriously, who puts hot sauce on pizza?]
I guess you could say that. The cereal and coke combo wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten.
no subject
Really? [She chews thoughtfully, tines of her fork clattering softly against her plate. It sounded difficult.
Made it even more baffling that he'd chosen that as his breakfast... She hadn't really given much thought to the subject before, since her dietary needs had always been taken care of and Danny was free to get what he needed while he was out. Zack never left his floor, though... All that had been there was busted up buildings and garbage. Even if it suited a killer like him, it seemed odd to leave his food options so limited.]
...Your file mentioned substandard living conditions. I guess it isn't really a surprise to hear that, not that it really matters.
no subject
Huh? [He raised an eyebrow at her statement.]
Are you talking about that resume thing you found on the gravedigging brat's floor?
no subject
Yes. I didn't have any impressions on what it said, and I still don't, but I still read and remember it.
CW: child neglect
Well, it's not like I really dwell on my past that much. [gulp]
So what, if I ended up in a shitty orphanage where I had to live off scraps because the bastards kept forgetting to feed me? I'm still here. Why should I be thinking about a bunch of assholes I sent to their graves?
no subject
I guess you shouldn't.
[She flicks the screen of her phone to scroll some more. Oh, there was them on the network. Hi, them. This seems like a good opportunity to figure out how it works. Video response go...!]
I just mentioned it because you talked about eating things worse than cereal and soda. And because I think it's -- [She pauses to consider her words. Her decision is more tactful, but it's less chosen because of that and more because it's what feels the most correct, to her.] ...different. It's different that you would choose to eat something like that when you're provided with plenty of normal food on this floor.
[Video response sent! Enjoy that notif on your phone, Zack.]

[Did he just hear his phone beep? He checks his phone and...]
... Really? We're sitting right next to each other.
no subject
[It (probably) works just like she thought!! That's almost satisfying.]
Is that a problem?
no subject
[It's just weird, okay?]

Both our broadcast and my reply were video, but I was still allowed to choose other options. I can show you which buttons make video, audio, and text-only. I made it so your phone can read text replies out loud to you when I was looking at it before.
[A weird girl testing things, but also productive!!]
no subject
[Zack tries it out on one text post...]
[Someone named Mikan is asking for advice, and she said "welcome to Wonderland" in her post.]
Wonderland?! Give me a fucking break.
no subject
I'm surprised they didn't give me a ribbon...
[A popular depiction of Alice has blonde hair and blue eyes like her, right?]
no subject
Yeah, and a weird blue dress...
... Wait, what the fuck? How is this Wonderland? I have gotta be dreaming.
no subject
My parents said the author was on drugs. I guess that makes our forgetting make sense... [The whole blacking out and waking up in a new place was suspicious enough to be a drug thing, if it wasn't just the poison gas.] It might not really be Wonderland. Just what it's being called.
