Padmé Amidala | Star Wars

[Choice A - Yukata Check Every Room]

[A vacation of sorts has always been prescribed for the overworked senator, but Padmé is the headstrong type. Work is her life and she's never been a fan of "downtime". However, Wonderland has made it obvious that she cannot continue full tilt or it will kill her. Perhaps even literally.

And she's not ready to die.

As it is, she's now in this lovely little inn with its hotsprings along with the a vast group of others. Her hands are tucked into the sleeves of the yukata that had been provided after she'd had a bath and her long hair is twisted into a loose but sensible plait down her back. It's an interesting place and she has no trouble walking through the calm halls. The walls open up every few feet into a set of sliding doors that opened and closed with whispers.

But above some of those doors are little slips of paper that appear to have been glued to the walls with intricate calligraphy on them.]

I've heard the rumors that ghosts inhabit this place, but am I supposed to believe that those slips of paper will keep them at bay?

[Not that she believes in ghosts, the Force notwithstanding.]

[Choice B - What Never Could Have Been]

[Life has always been complicated for Padmé. From the second she took the throne of her planet to that very moment, she's been faced with hard decision one after the other. After serving her people through the invasion of the Trade Federation, she'd been given the position of Queen for Life by the people of Naboo. Turning it down more than once hadn't stopped them and she could only serve her people to the best of her abilities.

This place, however, is nowhere close to her palace in Thedes or her parents' house or even the summer palace on the lake where she spent a week every year to "relax". Nor is it any place she's familiar with outside of Naboo either. While she's panicking on the inside because she doesn't know where she is or where here even is, her face is calm as she approaches the first person she comes across.]

Excuse me. Have you seen Senator Palpatine or Representative Binks? I really must speak with them right away.

[Wildcard - Make Your Own Adventure]

[Come at me with an idea. I can be reached on my plurk, [plurk.com profile] makochan, for plotting stuff.]

[Ben has seen a lot of weird shit in Wonderland, stuff that makes his little nerd heart want to explode.

And now Padme Amidala is standing in front of him asking where to find Darth Sidious or Jar-Jar Binks and he is... honestly speechless. He just kind of stares for a few moments before managing to find his voice.]

Seriously. Those two are the ones you go for? Not, I don't know, Anakin or Obi-Wan? Or Yoda or Ahsoka or literally anyone else? I mean, none of them are here, but seriously?

[Her face grows from a type of friendliness that she uses in business to all business at the audacity of him to speak to her like that. In fact, even without her royal paint and outfits, it's definitely Queen Amidala standing there and not Padmé.]

We fail to see why we should call upon members of the Jedi Knights for a matter of state. Especially Master Yoda. We are more than capable of running our world without their assistance.

mrknope: (call me ben WHY-att)

[Oh boy, how does he even put that, especially when she's looking at him like that.]

It's not the Jedi thing. It's the.... [He waves a hand, scowling lightly.] Jar Jar Binks.

[Disdain is a word until Padmé is looking through you with as little concern for your wellbeing as that of a speck of dust.]

Jar Jar Binks is a war hero for the freedom of our planet from the Trade Federation. Not only that, but he is a close friend to the royal house.

[Sure, he's also clumsy and clueless a great deal of the time, but that doesn't negate the fact that he has some power thanks to his promotion by his clan's boss.]

He represents his people alongside Senator Palpatine does ours in the Galactic Senate.

Now, you will show us where we can find either of them or get out of our way.

[ Naysayers, party of two.

Jill's the restless sort; with the BSAA, she's always on the front lines as an SOA, whether it's in the midst of an outbreak or investigating, it's very rarely that she has any downtime. Her work is her identity, both her passion and her dream, something she strives for above and beyond anything else. It frustrates her in a way she's incapable of expressing when it comes down to it and though she's obliged to wear the provided clothing, something about all of this disquiets her beyond the fact she's meant to simply swallow this bitter pill as more than just a fever dream.

It's fine, she's back home, drenched in sweat, and there's Chinese waiting in the fridge for her for when she feels better. That is, of course, assuming this dream isn't the most vivid she's ever had.

A little frustrated, but glad for the company, Jill's shoulders rise and fall with a solid huff.
]

In a country where I come from, traditionally they supposedly do. [ She knows about it primarily due to work and dealing with customs undercover. ] I'm not sure I'd like to test the theory that they do, though. We are here, after all.

[ Her yukata is the dark grey of a stormy sky, with little in way of pattern. It's a little baggy to accommodate for her body shape, but more comfortable for that reason. She tugs the sleeve up to offer a solid hand to shake. ]

Jill. I take it you're somewhat frustrated and doing a little exploring, too?

[Padmé can totally understand the whole 'my life is nothing but my work' mentality. It's who she is too. So much that she's nearly been killed more than once just trying to do it and she goes back to it every time.

Not even the loss of Cordé and a few other of her handmaidens can stop her. Much to Captain Panaka, Obi-Wan and Anakin's dismay.

She looks over at her companion with an interested look. She's always found other cultures fascinating. Understanding differences is how a politician gain footholds, after all.]

So, it's more of a tradition than an actual preventative measure. [She nods in thought.] I suppose that's as important as anything else.

[A small, white hand comes out of the red sleeves of her yukata to take the other woman's hand.]

Padmé Amidala. I'm not sure that I'm quite to the frustrated part just yet. But, I do find a knowledge of my terrain helps a great deal.

[ Jill doesn't see an issue with it, at least. Her friends haven't up until recently but that's more situational. She's gone through rehab, though, and there's no real reason for them to worry about her.

You know, other than being here.

She gestures with a hand as she speaks, the opposite planted comfortably to her hip. Her fingers press together as she swerves her hand through the air in a vague circular motion. It's not something she'd thought she'd be explaining and least of all something she felt she was educated enough to discuss, but it's a nice, neutral subject.
]

I can't say how true it is as being just a tradition here. Being here alone means this place is something outside of my realm of knowledge. Might be that it's actually some kind of technological barrier.

[ Which is something she's honestly more comfortable with. She preferred monsters to be the kind she knew she could fight, even if it were an uphill battle.

Jill's hold is firm and considerably militaristic, though not lacking in warmth in how she leans in some with a quiet smile. Subdued, not a tactic to gain insight or anything but what it seems. She keeps it short, but not so short that it might cause discomfort.
]

Then you're much more of a trooper than I am. [ After the initial shock and disbelief, frustration was her natural course of action. Even if she could bust out and scurry home, it was still something that felt troublesome. Add in actual ghosts and she might up the description to something more than that. ] That's something I can agree on. Unfortunately, this place seems pretty big. One thing I do know is the best place to start when you're looking for answers is to go where no one wants you to.

[ But sometimes the No Trespassers sign is there for a reason, just as these things might be sincere in intention. ]

To be fair, I'm not sure that our being here is any different than being in our own home worlds in that relation. I'm not really familiar with the mysticism of either this culture or that of the one in my own galaxy, but they exist.

[She frowns in thought.]

Although, I suppose that's a little circular, logically speaking. If it's a barrier, what is it keeping out? Spirits? I've yet to see one and I'm not sure they are real. Until that changes, I'll have to believe that this is more of an instance of cultural mysticism than actual defense against something.

[She gives the woman a slight but meaningful smile. It's nice to see another woman of some thought walking down these corridors with her. Even if they've been strangers until now.]

I believe that you and I share the same way of thinking, but I'm not sure that my guard captain would agree with either of us. I think I've caused him more trouble than I care to recall with my headstrong beliefs. He'd be cautioning me to stay in my rooms and let him survey the land.

However, since he's not here, let's do it ourselves.

[With the air of a woman used to getting what she wants, Padmé shoves the shoji screen open to look inside the room that's been so carefully warded.]
