she's feeling anything but casual; the last time she'd seen him, he'd been sacrificing himself for mick, for all their freedom. ]
Leonard. [ her voice is surprisingly even for the emotion she's feeling. ]
no subject
Too emotional for him, by a long shot. It's not surprising that he ends up settling on something rather flippant in reply.]
Boo.
no subject
Very funny. [ she lets out a breath. ] You said something about a bar?
no subject
[However, he still doesn't feel much like the bar, like people, so instead he puts his hand into his pocket and produces a flask, holding it out to her.]
I brought the bar to us.
[What more do they need?]
Got cards too, if you're feeling the itch. Still want answers?
no subject
I'll play you for them. [ of course she still wants answers. but she'll need time to process them, to process this. playing cards with snart is a layer of normalcy she feels she could use right now. ]
no subject
So far, he's coming up empty. He deals, falling into the routine of playing easily enough.]
no subject
she wins the first round, if only barely. ] What is this place?
no subject
As far as anyone can tell, a sort of pocket dimension. Nothing we do here has an effect on anything back where we're from. People are pulled from different universes. Different times. Sometimes they return home for a while. They don't remember this place back home, but when they get back, they remember what happened there.
No one really knows why. Not to any of this.
no subject
it's still a little hard to believe it's really him, though having come back from the dead twice now, sara knows that anything is possible.
she shuffles for a moment longer before distributing the cards. ]
no subject
Also someone called ...Nancy. Nate. Whatever. After my time.
[Just three words there, but they answer that one questions.
Yes. He knows.]
no subject
he knows.
she's come to terms with his death in as far she can with death at all. it doesn't rate quite as highly, doesn't leave her quite as desperate as her sister's death, but it still hurts. she wishes things could have been different. for him to prove how much of a thief he really is, instead of turning into a hero after all.
for a moment, she reaches out, cards hidden against one thigh, her hand landing on his arm and squeezing. she doesn't let the touch linger. ] It's good to see you again.
no subject
Good to see you too. You took your sweet time, Sara, I've been here a year now.
no subject
which — ] A year?
no subject
[About a month left to go and he'd be there.]
Not really my idea of an afterlife, but I suppose there's worse.
no subject
I could use some of that drink now. [ she holds out her hand for the flask. ]
no subject
[He holds the flask out for her, handing it over. Then he smiles, turning his cards around all at once.]
You win this round too. I got no luck today.
[Maybe also less focus than he normally would have. He hasn't expected it, Sara coming here. But here she is, just like that. The last time he's seen her seems forever ago, but things haven't really changed that much. That's it, while stuck here, things can't change that much for him. Just for the others.]
So. When are you from?
no subject
Months after we left the Vanishing Point. [ she wants to say more because leonard's always been able to provide a different perspective, to see things in a different light, even when sara hasn't, doesn't agree with him. it still helps to see things more clearly, and with rip shooting her so recently, clarity is something sara could use. a way out, a different perspective, these things would be good.
but - ] I'm not sure I should say more than that.
no subject
Or have you joined a girl band and sold out completely, because if you're embarrassed to tell me, relax. I don't judge.
[Obviously a joke, but there's some seriousness to his tone for those last three words.
He doesn't judge.
Not her, at least.]
no subject
they might pick hers, too. ] I guess I just don't trust this place. [ she doesn't know this place, but she knows enough to realise that it doesn't play by normal rules.
after a moment, lighter, she offers: ] The band's called "Canary Cries". [ a joke, but also a thank you. ]
no subject
[He smirks, looking at his cards and then up at her.]
So, what are you? Drummer?
no subject
Lead singer, of course.
