I'm afraid I don't understand. But if you prefer to be called a monster rather than a demon, that is perfectly fine with me.

Perhaps we should discuss the matter of why inanimate objects are now being considered to have intelligence?

Monster is the name of the species I come from. I know it has different connotations for other beings from other worlds so your surprise is unsurprising!

And now I am assuming you are speaking about the Mansion, yes?

[He certainly hopes so; this man has been nothing but charming so far and he'd hate to think he just ruined that streak.]

There is a magic to this place that makes it change aspects of itself to be a better place of living for those trapped here. I have come to think of it as being sentient in its own right. It's the best theory I have so far.

Haha, well. That I can understand. Perhaps we can discuss semantics and etymologies at some point if you have any interest, since the word demon doesn't fully quantify what I am. Culturally, perhaps, and I'm no scholar, but it certainly does come off as awkward phrasing.

[Not that he knows that much, but he's met foreigners before who do not grasp the connotation of youkai. Perhaps once he realizes that the Mansion has them all speaking in common, he'll be more intrigued.]

At any rate, magic is something to which I am familiar. If you say that magic has animated this place, then I have no reason to doubt. Surely you won't begrudge me my own opinions once I become more...comfortable here.
