[He's certainly different, though Newt hasn't quite put together how or why. Stories he's heard from others don't match up at all with R, so he's more worried he's sick in another way than that he's something he's heard from many but nothing like this.]

I don't blame you for that. Not in the least. I love libraries. There's one in the youth center as well. I suspect some others may have their own, and I've thought to try and put one together based on the worlds we all come from.

Do you have a favorite book?

[He can't help but to be chatty, to want to get to know those he's never met before. It's always so interesting getting to know others.]

[The longer they stand together, the more uncomfortable and out of sorts R starts to feel. It isn't like him to maintain conversation - the longest he's had recently have been with Julie, and even then they have been limited by his ability to respond. This man talks quickly, and R's brain trips over understanding him, focusing on some words and not others and missing the meaning of the sentences in the process.

But there's a question, and he clings to that. It's not a question he can answer, but...

He shakes his head, glancing off down the line of books. A reply comes to his lips almost unbidden.]

I prefer music.

[Good going, R, you almost sound like a live human.]

[Realizing that a man is different, and understanding how, is not the same thing. So it hasn't entirely hit Newt why this man isn't like others.

Though that answer makes him sad, even if he looks sad.]

I can understand that. There was a record player here before, though someone recently, well, they set it on fire.

Though I hadn't thought before to try and get a new one from the closet. Thank you for that reminder.

[R smiles, a slightly lopsided affair as he shrugs his shoulders in a familiar gesture. Satisfied that he diverted the topic away from reading, his attention drifts off for a few moments, pewter-grey eyes scanning slowly over the incomprehensible book spines once again.

He realises, belatedly, that it's probably the right time in the conversation to introduce himself. He declines to offer a hand - the lukewarm flesh of the Dead is only going to raise questions he doesn't want to answer.]

[Newt smiled brightly at the man.]

Have you ever used the closets here?

[He may have been here longer than Newt thinks, but given he's never seen him before, he considers showing the person away.]

I'm Newt. Want to help me get a record player and set it up?

Sure.

[R smiles another of those small smiles, tearing his eyes away from the books and trying to keep himself focused. This person was taking his lead on a topic of interest, the least he could do was pay attention.

He falls into step beside Newt, trying not to stumble or shuffle, watching his feet.]

What.. music do you like?

Well then, I guess I won't have to show you, though I still admit to loving the magic of them.

[The thing with Newt was that he would easily take charge and not realize things may be different than what he thinks. A boon and a curse, perhaps, for anyone trying to carry on a conversation with him.]

I like the sound of big bands, as well as jazz. I like a lot of music I can dance to but the truth is that I'm not much of a dancer.
