gideon ( legends of tomorrow )
Given that this location hasn't been on any map or time that I've had access to it is unusual that it also exists outside of time.
( It's not the Vanishing Point, or at least not the one that she knows. Another from another universe? )
It would lead me to question whether or not there were other similar places - other things outside of time. Perhaps the subtle differences that distinguish our universe could result in something like this.
THE GARDENS.
( It was one thing to exist in this form inside Captain Hunter's mind, but here? He'd remembered, let it go, and this shouldn't have existed.
It did. And she existed )
Captain Hunter?
( Perhaps, despite what had seemed to be a success, he hadn't actually let go, simply changing where his mind lay from the Waverider to... she didn't actually know where. It wasn't anywhere that Gideon had had data on before )
Captain Lance? Mister Jackson?
THE LIBRARY.
( She's never had to refer to an actual book before, being a supercomputer, and despite how much this extends upon the Waverider's own library Gideon finds it a little lacking. Surprisingly that isn't due to the contents of the library but having to manually find something herself.
It leads the woman to wandering up and down the aisles, searching in what is starting to seem like a fruitless effort. She's looking for information on time. Though Gideon's something of an 'expert' on it herself her knowledge doesn't seem to be as relevant here )
If only there was a comprehensive volume on all information.
( SIGH )
LIBRARY.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, lady.
[ claudia pokes her entire head through a space where apparently books are supposed to go, swiveling it around until her gaze lands on gideon. she finishes the quote incorrectly, with a fake and sugary grin: ]
Wonderland would beat us unconscious with 'em. [ frown. ] Newbie, huh?
no subject
( And whilst that statement doesn't quite match the quote somehow it seems a fitting statement given what she's heard already about this place.
It's not good )
But I've come to learn a few things already.
no subject
[ wink! and then she disappears before reappearing at the end of the stack, shoulder bag slung across her body and hands on her hips. ]
Yeehaw.
no subject
Or even Doctor Palmer )
I know that this place exists outside of time, given the number of displacements that occur here, and that some measure of time travel is involved. There's also the fact that it appears not to be in any given universe.
no subject
Lots of time talk, huh? I can dig that.
[ jazz hands! claudia walks toward gideon, and then stretches out one of those jazz hands in greeting. ]
Claudia. Claudia Donovan, Warehouse ... Wonderland, I guess. Extra-dimensional division, at your service. How do you feel about magic?
no subject
Gideon. Seemingly formerly of the Waverider.
( Because one lengthy greeting merits one. Right? Taking her hand back, Gideon adds: )
Magic is a concept thought of by most as just a figment of imagination. Those that truly practice it are far less frequent, but do exist.
( gardens )
but there's just a woman???? standing in the gardens??? ]
Excuse me-- [ he starts forward toward her, golf bag dragging behind him and wobbling against the speed ] --did you hear where that voice just now came from?
no subject
Whatever here was. Though it seemed she'd have to wait before knowing that.
Not knowing something... now that was strange )
I believe the voice you're referring to is my own, Doctor Palmer.
( Don't make her do the thing )
And it's relieving to see you.
no subject
[ wat ]
You're--
[ seriously wat ]
...Gideon?
[ thud the bag hits the ground because ray forgets to hold onto it. ]
no subject
Hello Doctor Palmer.
( It's good to see him, though-- )
I hope nothing important was in your bag.
no subject
[ wonderland, duh. of course. of course it would bring more crew. more -- people? ]
What-- you're-- [ he forgets the bag, forgets her concern, and fishes his device out to scroll through it. there must be an event this must be... ] This can't be real.
no subject
( Do they need to get all touchy feely as proof? )
Though I have no knowledge of how I am here. By all rights this form served its purpose in freeing Captain Hunter from his mind, and you were not present at that time.
( And considering he hasn't threatened or attacked her yet she'll assume that they're not still in Rip's mind. That setting was crashing down, and the 'foes' had been defeated )
no subject
No. No, this has to be some kind of event. This isn't right.
[ she's not a person. she's a series of incredibly powerful programs that a person made. she can't be a person. ]
It's Wonderland, that's all. Wonderland's either messing with everyone or I'm finally losing it. Awesome.
no subject
Wonderland is not in any of the timelines that I have examined.
( And there shouldn't have been time for the Legion of Doom to have collected and used the Spear of Destiny already.
Or was that the point. Would they think nothing had happened when in fact it had? )
I need to locate Captain Hunter.
so I went pre-evil since he'll never be like this in eway again :D
He doesn't stop to think of how. Not when that too familiar voice calls his name first, followed by--well. Certainly one he knows, though not in that form.
Another question to be tucked away in favor of the present.
It doesn't take him long to find her once he's moving again. Just around a hedge or two, and Rip's eyes go wide when he takes her in. There and perfectly human, and the part of his mind that wants to argue that this simply cannot be is confronted with the reminder that he's pictured her, often, wondered what she might look like if she were human.
And this is exactly that.]
Gideon? [He asks quietly, unsure whether he's more afraid to be wrong or of what it might mean if he's somehow right.]
no subject
Gideon looks relieved when she sees him, despite his apparent confusion, and steps towards him, this time being the one to Rip into a hug )
Hello Captain.
( The words are soft, just above a whisper. No matter what happened, and why they're still trapped somewhere, she has him. They'll figure it out )
Though-- ( Gideon steps back, eyes searching his expression ) --I am not certain why we're still here. It should have been successful in releasing you.
no subject
It's all so very strange, even for Wonderland. At first, he wonders if this might not somehow be the beginnings of an event--but her confusion seems to indicate that it isn't so.
An arrival then. Of Gideon. In human form.]
That's, ah, a bit complicated, I'm afraid. [He draws back slowly, hardly sure of where to begin. He's helped introduce the concept of Wonderland to others before, knows all the things he's meant to say--and yet at the moment, it seems he finds it far more pressing to reach up and lightly brush his fingers along Gideon's cheek.
As if the hug had somehow not been proof enough that she were real.]
no subject
We'll work on it together, as always.
( She was always there for him, and her form wouldn't change that. Gideon slips one of her hands up to his, the one that's on her cheek, and lets her fingers rest on his in a reassuring gesture. She was here, and she wasn't going anywhere )
I believe in you.
no subject
She had been the only one to stand by him when Savage murdered his family. The Time Masters refused to offer aide—but Gideon, who could have stopped him, who could have followed protocol and programming both, instead allowed Rip to steal the Waverider away.
And her with it.]
As always. [He grins, perhaps a more earnest smile than any he has worn in months. Her touch confirms answer to that unspoken question, that she is real and here and physical somehow.
But she is Gideon. Steadfast in belief, always.]
Well, to start, we're not—wherever you just were. [Though he doesn't yet realize why Gideon might not believe him on this point, Rip speaks with certainty.] This is a pocket dimension entirely separate from our own universe and timeline both. I can only assume that's the reason why you're suddenly—as you are.
[Human. Just as he'd envisioned her to be.]
no subject
Captain, I'm afraid that this is still your subconscious. Mr Jackson and Captain Lance were able to depart after you'd believed in them.
( But still he did not believe enough -- in himself, or his memories. A pocket dimension, as much as it was a lovely time and space-y explanation, was not where they were. But it was a start -- he was gaining some confidence still )
But you need to believe still. In yourself.
no subject
Don't tell me anything else, Gideon. [The sternness to his words comes not from doubt, as she might think, but certainty. She speaks of his need to believe in himself, and yet he is entirely sure of what he says to her now.]
I need you to believe in me now. [He moves his hands to her shoulders, his grip tight, earnest. He ducks his head just enough to make up for the difference between them in height; Rip looks straight into her eyes, hoping to convince her of the truth of what he says.] Whatever you last remember, wherever you were--the ship, my subconscious, whatever--you aren't there now.
We've been pulled from our universe, and our timeline. I don't know what you're talking about, because I haven't experienced it yet. The last memory I have of home is when we were about to jump to Saint-Lo, France, to rescue Kendra and Carter from Savage.
no subject
Except the pause, and the uncertainty that now crosses her own expression, indicate that she's having a problem with what he has said. A big problem.
Surprisingly the problem isn't that Gideon doesn't believe him -- she does. She knows his tone of voice well enough, can recognise the certainty and complete belief that he had in his words, having heard it on numerous occasions before. Somehow she's now with a version of Rip from an earlier point in time. Normally that wouldn't be too much of a problem but-- )
That would then indicate that-- ( That she's real. Human. That is the part that Gideon is having a problem with. She can't be human, not in this reality--
It's not their universr, that's what Rip had said. Had the Spear somehow been involved? She can't ask him that, not yet. Not if it could cause more drastic consequences than are what already occurring )
I do believe you. Though if all of this is real then I believe we may be screwed.
( Unless there's more of the crew, or even the Waverider around. They've accomplished much together, just the two of them, before, but they've also never been in a situation quite like this )
