[Bart stands in front of the bookshelves, scanning the titles with an ever-deepening scowl. Looking over his shoulder to check that he isn't being observed, he blurs into motion, going from one end of the room to the other. No luck.]

Is it too much to ask for something new?

[Flinging himself into a chair, he sighs.]

Dining Room

[Number one problem with being a speedster? You're always hungry. Good thing the intradimensional prisonMansion seemed to have an endless supply of food. And Bart wasn't too picky. While he was trying to order one thing at a time, there was quite the stack of plates building up next to the wiry teen.]

You want anything?

[accelerate]

[ that's what goes through barry's brain when he's asked the question. it's such a dangerous one for all parties involved — the asker, for they'll lose half their food; for barry, because he needs to pace himself; and for wonderland, who still has yet not run out of food. he'd stepped into the dining room with a plate that had once held a baked dinner (and now does not) to return said plate back to the table before anyone thought it had gone missing. upon reflection, he supposes no one had. or this guy didn't, at least. ]

Yeah, sure. [ barry places his empty plate down, now uncaring where it goes, given how many plates seem to be here. his brows furrow, and his mind begins doing his csi thing where he starts piecing things together, but there's food, and barry's stomach's growling again. ] You going in by country or is this a free-for-all?

[Bart grins.]

I thought I might find out if there's a limit. Just picking out what comes to mind, really.

[a pause]

I'm Bart.

[accelerate]

[ bart. sounds a lot like bartholomew, doesn't it? ]

The limit doesn't exist. [ he shakes his head, grinning. he'd know. been here a year and wonderland's still serving freaking twenty-course meals a day, fit for a part of one hundred when it's just him. ] It's like there's an endless rabbit hole of food; it just never runs out. [ when he thinks of a burger, the next moment he looks at his empty plate, he finds a burger sitting on it. ] I've been trying it out. For one week all I ate was burgers, breakfast, lunch, dinner ... Still had them a week later.

[ he thinks about eating that burger, but he leaves it for the time being. ] I'm Barry.

[He breathes a sigh of relief at that.]

Oh, thank God. Because I don't even want to think about what would happen if there were some kind of crisis and there wasn't any food. Rationing would not be good. And--

[He breaks off, the name given having sunk in.]

Weird coincidence. Does this place do coincidence?

[accelerate]

Depends on the kind of coincidence.

[ no, this place does all kinds of coincidences. he's met another earth-version of his friend, kara danvers, who isn't really kara danvers but is kara. just kara. and then there's everyone piling in from different timepoints, but he feels like that's just a lesson time itself wants everyone to learn. ]

[ the kind of coincidence bart's thinking of is a new one for bartholomew senior. ]

Is it a food coincidence? Because I can tell you right now, if your Earth has unlimited food like here, I'm going to want to go there. Mine sucks. Except for Jitters. Jitters has great coffee.

I wish. I'm pretty sure I had every pizza place in Keystone on speed dial when I was working there for busy times.

[Bart shrugs a little at that. More because he doesn't want to think about Keystone or when he was older. It doesn't even occur to him that by 21st century Earth standards he isn't really old enough to work, or at least, barely looks it.]

I never got into the whole coffee thing. I'm not even sure if it really affects me. At least not to any appreciable amount for any measurable amount of time. I figure if anesthetics and tranquilizers don't do much, why should I try the other end of the scale?

[accelerate]

[ barry's flash-senses are tingling — or maybe it's just his forensic scientist senses. he always had a talent for unravelling riddles pre-lightning strike. there's something familiar in the babbling, and it isn't because of his name. how many barrys has barry come across in his life? does dad making him listen to barry manilow count? does his earth-1 counterpart make the cut? it's the familiarity in the fact nothing can really touch him. ]

[ he's got his attention, but it isn't because they're talking about food. :/ perhaps next time. ]

[ brows furrowing, ] Why do you think nothing really affects you? [ his lips quirk upward, ] Tranquilisers take anything down. It's been a universal thing so far. I'm pretty sure it's the only thing in this Multiverse that stays the same. [ except the flash — though, barry doesn't want to try that out. ]

Sure, tranquilizers will work if you want to use enough to take down a rhino. At least enough to gain a momentary advantage. It's just a metabolism thing. Runs in the family.

[It isn't that Bart can't talk about his speed, he just isn't really comfortable with the questions. He likes being Kid Flash for that, being mostly in the background until he's needed.]

Unlike Superboy, I don't feel the need to always brag about what I can do. Besides, he cheats.

[accelerate]

[ barry shakes his head, apologetically. ] I don't know who that is.

[ he knows supergirl, and superman from her stories, but superboy? maybe that's the other name kara mentioned, but then again this kara's mentioned a lot that doesn't quite sit in his bank of already-attained knowledge. ]

[ he shakes his head, as if to clear it, but he isn't too sure of what. brows furrowing, he opts to not give into any desire to ramble — a feat, given how quickly his mouth tends to run before his brain catches up. instead, he asks, ] Who's your family again?

[Bart considers that, because it's a hard thing to answer.]

I suppose that mostly depends on what you mean by family. I mean, I barely see my mom, and my dad died before I was born. Sometimes I think the Titans were more my family than anyone except maybe Grandma Iris. Iris West-Allen.

[Remembering all that makes him suddenly no longer hungry, so he pushes away the last bits on his plate and sighs.]

Sometimes it all seems like a lifetime ago.

[accelerate]

[ his eyes almost pop out of his head. he sounds like he's about to laugh, but let's just drum it up to a little bit of disbelief. ]

Iris West-Allen is your grandma? [ his brows pull together before he pulls a face, that brain of his already piecing everything together. barry tries to outrun it, though. ] I know an Iris. She's my best friend and ... [ you know, future wife, everything in this world. that's a bit gooey, isn't it? ]

That's a really funny coincidence. [ but as he says it, he doesn't sound like he believes it. two people with the same name? last time that happened, it was a doppelgänger situation based in the multiverse. ] Really funny. Like for real funny.

[ denial: it's a river that runs deep. barry knows what this is but he can only really handle his doppelgänger marrying iris. having kids??? having grandkids??? ]

[Okay, he can't help that one. It's all Max's fault, from that time in 1941 where he had to stop the world from being changed because of Extant and undoing everything.]

I wonder if that's a multiverse thing, or something he managed to do when he was messing around with time.

[That last is mostly to himself, and it's a sobering thought. Picking brown socks instead of black isn't a big change as the timestream goes, but physical changes? Yikes.]

[Wally's impressed. Those are speedster quantities of food. And... does the kid look a little familiar?

[Bart hopes he can keep his expression friendly, because, those earpieces and that uniform? Well, he really doesn't need more reminders of his asshat cousin.]

I think I can manage that, but you sure you want that much fat? There are better places to get calories.

[Oops, apparently he wasn't that kind, those are veggie-burgers. Although the cheese is real. Nobody is horrible enough to deserve surprise vegan cheese. But beside the platter of cheeseburgers is a plate if okonomiyaki because he always wanted to try it. And some fish tacos.]

Well, there are some pretty good veggie burgers out there. These ones aren't bad. [Wally may be a third of the way through the burgers already.]

Well, they claim it tastes and textures like the real stuff, but I'm pretty sure when I'm from originally nobody's had the real stuff in centuries.

But it keeps people fed when there really isn't any space to dedicate to agriculture.
