a. the gardens

[ sat in the garden, jyn finds herself with time to relax for the first time since she was a little girl. she doesn't know how she feels about it. the mansion itself was making her claustrophobic so she'd escaped outside and then found herself with nothing to do.

it's almost oppressive.

so she'd settled outside in the fresh air to have a think. this think is interrupted by a small dormouse skittering up to her. the little furry animal reminds her of a bulba, but it doesn't seem to have the same symbiotic relationship with the plants here, at least it's not wreathed in ivy. regardless, when it gets closer she pounces and just barely catches it between her fingers, drawing it back to settle against her chest. ]

What are you then, mate?

b. the kitchen

[ having been quite food insecure for the majority of her life, jyn is pretty much living for the kitchen and it isn't uncommon to find her opening a cabinet only to close and open it all over again like she will find something new hidden behind the chocolate tea biscuits.

she does the same with the fridge, collecting every kind of fruit and vegetables she can possibly find: grapes, starblossoms, navets, dirigible plums, purps, aubergines, punga fruit, cabbages, peaches, pears, cucumber, etc, etc. she'd found a puzzlefruit but she's set that aside for now until she can focus on unlocking the petals to actually get to the fruit.

chances are you interrupt her gorging herself whilst sitting on the counter top or trying, with some frustration, to unlock the puzzlefruit. she is good at puzzles, but she's not kriffing nimbanese. ]

c. the network

[ jyn is still in the gardens, or in the garden again, laid out in the grass looking up at stars she can't begin to recognize. ]

Where are these stars from? And where can I get a decent drink?

[ Robyn doesn't know Jyn, but she has always felt the same way about the mansion. Having been recently traveling on the road for a long time, the Warden has trouble keeping herself confined to its four walls. Instead, she takes to wandering the grounds, the woods, the gardens, accompanied by the war hound at her heels.

She comes across the stranger, then, and slows as she passes, cracking a smile to see Jyn dive for - something. ]

Did you find something? [ She asks, unable to resist the curiosity. Oren, excited at the prospect of someone new to scratch his head, sits down, but his tail is still wagging excessively. ]

[realists]

[ DOG. jyn spends a good thirty seconds staring at the dog before her eyes flicker up to the woman speaking to her. no offence, it's just that people suck and animals are amazing. ]

Some sort of mouse...

[ mouse type thing. it shivers in jyn's hands as she unfolds them to look at it's big ears and beady little eyes. it wriggles its nose at her, chittering quietly. ]

[ A mouse? Best to not let Oren go over, then. He stays put, however unhappily, while his master takes a few steps closer, peering curiously at the creature in the other woman's hands. ]

I imagine a place of this size [ and age? ] has a lot of mice. [ Of course, the most famous of them only appears over their devices, and often is half-asleep when he does. ] Has it spoken to you at all?

[ A strange question, perhaps. ]

...No.

[ jyn looks up at the dog's owner -- jyn, you can't think of people like that wtf -- and it's clear she thinks that even with this place existing that is a level of "okay, you need a doctor" kind of weird she has experienced yet. hutts and mouse droids and the aquatic people of wrea are one thing, talking woodland creatures are another. ]

Does that happen?

It does. They speak to us over these - [ at which time she removes and presents the communicator, offering it for Jyn to see ] Usually with some kind of ominous message.

[ And usually followed by an event. ]

That one may just be a normal mouse, though.

[ It's possible, isn't it?? ]

[realists]

Mice that use comms, [ jyn repeats slowly, looking at the dormouse in her hands and then looking at the woman again. okay, sure. ]

He doesn't look large enough to press the buttons.

Neither does the Doormouse we see over the screens, and yet...

[ And yet, Wonderland is mad like that. ]

My name is Robyn, by the way. [ She offers. ]

That depends on you taste. If you like an old fashioned pub, there's a rather nice venue on the fifth floor. If you're into more of the club scene with high end taste, I'd recommend Lux Deux on the sixth floor.

I'd rather no venue or scene and just the alcohol

Then you'd probably be better off with the closets. All of the selection with none of the forced social interaction.

[ what. like, okay, she's heard "closets" in passing but that doesn't fully explain it. ]

The closets can generate anything you may wish for, provided it isn't too specific. No personal items or family heirlooms, but a lovely bottle of booze isn't too far out of it's reach.
