That is why, as soon as the orc gets out the words "no repeats", Angus rushes to dig a matchbook out of his closet. Single, he said single match, so Angus haphazardly pulls one out of the book, breaking it too short in the meanwhile, and doesn't even pause to wonder if that will mess up whatever is going on as he rushes to room 594.
Oh. Oh, oh no, he didn't say which floor. Does it matter which floor? Whatever this is for, it's clearly a puzzle or spell or mystery of some kind, and Angus doesn't want to miss out! So he just sets about rushing from floor to floor, running down the hall to room 594 each time -- golly, this is a lot of hallway -- until he finally finds a room with a vase with matches inside. He's lost so much time already.
He forgets to count how many there already are, and just tries to remember the steps he was supposed to follow. Without anything to strike it on, he casts the cantrip Produce Flame and lights it that way. Then he blows it out. Then he throws it into the vase!
Mission accomplished?? Maybe????]
ahh my very good and precious boy
nah just kidding. the door swings open to reveal a green hipster with too many pockets who is clearly on his way to something-- or maybe from something? either way, he's stopped up by a very charming looking little man and he doesn't look all that upset about it. ]
Can I hel-- oh, hey look at that. My message worked!
[ he doesn't mean to be rude-- in lem's way this is something of gratitude. but he immediately sits (door left wide open to show a room that's obviously being filled to the brim with stuff) to dump the matches out and begin counting. ]
here he is, that good good boy
Oh! Hello, sir! Yes, your message came through perfectly! I did what you asked! Did I, did I do it right?
[He can't remember the number of matches the orc said. Wow, Angus sure hopes he didn't just goof everything all up.]
no subject
[ he smiles as he counts, nodding. ]
You did, yes. Thank you-- most people aren't so, err, eager to help?

Well, I thought it might be a puzzle, or something like that, but then I thought it might be some sort of incantation, and I've yet to learn any spells that take that kind of preparation so I thought I might educationally benefit, sir! So, um... what was it for?
