Her heels make a rather comforting click click click on the floor as she walks steadily down the room - comforting, if only because she never seems to remember hearing that sound in the multitude of nightmares she suffers these days. In a way, it makes the place feel real.
Maybe.
And then, a bunch of food appears on the table in front of her.
"Oh, no," she says, shaking her head. "Someone's gonna have to give me a very good reason to believe none of that is poisoned or - whatever."

[ The woman's nails are perfectly manicured, her makeup flawless, her strawberry-blonde hair pulled back from her face in an elegant chignon. A wisp or two might've come loose, it does that sometimes, but otherwise, not a thread out of place. Only her mouth and her eyes reveal her worry, her slight fear. Even her voice, when she speaks, is steady. ]
I have to say, as kidnappings go, this one is pretty creative. I guess there are a lot of us here, so, hi. I'm Pepper. I'd like to get a rundown, on what to expect, from the people who've been living it. How bad does it get?
Dining room
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. It's generally how food appears here, nopony seems to have suffered any ill effects that I know of. It's safe, just magic."
no subject
Most of her dreams these days involve pain, and fire, and pain, and Tony dying horribly, and more pain...
So, okay, talking unicorn. Sure.
"I suppose there are worse things than magic," she says carefully, eyeing the table (still a little leery of it, though). "Does this place do gelato?"
no subject
"Hmm. Especially when it's relatively harmless magic," he nods. "From my understanding, you can have just about any food you desire. Just tell it what you want, and the mansion will provide."
no subject
"Pistachio gelato?" she asks, glancing around, and then back down to the table, and - huh. There it is, in a nice little dish, with a spoon all ready.
It's good. Just as good as any of the real Italian stuff she's had in Italy.
"So they take us captive, and then give us anything we want?" she asks, her confusion only deepening as she licks the spoon delicately.
no subject
"That's right. I've only been here a short while, myself- but within reason, we can have just about anything. Our room closets also provide us with what we desire. Though I'm still not quite certain where these items are pulled from."
no subject
"There's - actually I was about to say there's no such thing as magic in my world, but - it's way more complicated than that," she adds, almost to herself. "Uh, do you have a name? I'm Pepper."
no subject
He clears his throat, oh...right. Names. That's a normal social convention.
"Nice to meet you, Pepper. I'm Sunburst."
no subject
"So - how dangerous is this place?" she asks after a moment. Almost too casual, like she's trying not to care too much, or at least sound somewhat dismissive, though of course inwardly she's terrified still. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, maybe.
no subject
"I...honestly haven't come across anything yet, but I have been told once a month stranger and potentially dangerous things happen. It's...considerably calmer than my home world thus far- but I suppose time will tell on that one."
no subject
"I guess I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop," she says thoughtfully. "I feel like this is pretty quiet, for a kidnapping."
no subject
"True. Were this a kidnapping back home, there would probably be some kind of magic-draining going on or threats to the entire country by this point. Probably culminating in a major battle," the ponies, they're hardcore Pepper. "As is, we've largely been left to our own devices. Of course, I haven't experiences an event yet, so things might change after that."
no subject
"I guess we'll have to see how these events pan out," she adds.
no subject
Equestria is not always the best of places, but he doesn't always get dragged on the world-saving adventures, so he can live with it.
"Hmm. Seeing is believing. We won't really know how we'll deal with them until they happen."
no subject
"Yeah, if there's one thing I've learned in the past ten years or so, no matter how crazy something sounds, chances are it's probably true."

video;
Sharon isn't thrilled to see Potts in Wonderland, but only because she knows what lies in the woman's future if she stays long enough. She suspects Tony will have mixed feelings, too.
But as someone who has been in Wonderland over two years, Sharon knows it isn't all bad. There are upsides that make the uncertainty and mental and sometimes physical torture almost worth it. Also, she certainly won't mind having someone as capable as Pepper Potts here. ]
I can give you a rundown. Have you seen the pamphlets?
video;
I have, yes. I get the general idea, I just would like to know a bit about the day-to-day. And are there any particular hazards I should look out for?
video;
There are also some other people who might try your patience, but Tony is one of the better ones. [ Her grin is small. ] I think we're from the same world. I recognize you from the news.
Other than people trying to escape and sometimes blowing things up, things tend to be very quiet in between events. Plenty of downtime to learn how to cook, learn self-defense, something like that.
I'm Sharon, by the way.
video;
But it sends a pang through her chest - of hope, of fear, of just regret, because they haven't told very many people they're on a break. Pepper hasn't told anyone, that's for sure. She's just been - burying herself. In work, mostly.
So she just - smiles faintly. ]
Tony's not a hazard for me. [ That's maybe not entirely truthful, but it's okay. She'll deal with him. Or not, maybe they just - she doesn't know if she'll be able to stay away from him. If she wants to. ]
It's nice to meet you, Sharon. Self-defense might be a good idea. I've had some lessons, but not many. What kinds of "events" are we talking about?
[ Because "events" back home can mean like... alien invasions. ]
video;
Oh, no. I'm sure Tony will be glad to see you.
And the events... some of them are harmless, but most of them involve situations where you can die. Sometimes horribly.
There's a sparring facility and a training center on the first floor. They offer classes and other services. [ i.e., Yes, Pepper. Self-defense is a good idea. ]
video;
She tries to keep all that out of her expression, her voice, however. Tries to keep it as light as she can - while not quite making it into a joke. ]
I know, I know. I keep putting it off. I don't like hitting things. But I suppose there's no talking my way out of this one. ...And I might have some time on my hands, here.
[ What the hell is she even gonna do, without a business to run or a billionaire to manage? ]
network }
Bad enough. Lately it seems as though Wonderland has been trying to kill us on a monthly basis. But there is ... down time to recover, as it were.
no subject
Great. Down time between attempted murders. I guess I'll be in need of some self-defense lessons, then.
