I. Welcome to Wonderland! Seconds ago you were surrounded by the things you know, but now you may find yourself standing on a strange beach. And you may find yourself in another part of another world. And you may find yourself within the shadow of a large mansion. And you may find yourself in a beautiful room, with a completely useless introductory brochure. And you may ask yourself: Well... how did I get here? II. Lose yourself to find yourself It's another day in Wonderland, and another event has come around. For its duration everyone has been turned into a stereotypical ghost. Disembodiment, translucency, and all it entails! Have fun moving through objects and walls, because actually touching a door (or interacting with any other physical objects for that matter)? Not going to happen. III. Mirror, Mirror, On The March Aren't you excited? Aren't you thrilled? The Queen of Hearts has chosen you amongst a mere handful, and sent you off to the other side. Whether you infiltrate quietly, or barge in boldly is entirely up to you. Her Majesty has faith in your skill, she knows you will retrieve her treasured Shield from that bothersome Red Queen and her hideous Reals. You will, won't you? You really mustn't disappoint your Queen, or else... OR ELSE. IV. Wildcard Play out your character's arrival. Celebrate their anniversary. Choose a different event to experience. Do anything and everything you like! |
Hermione Granger | Harry Potter
Er, um. I think I've got this right...
[ Hermione's face hesitantly edges onto the screen. She looks a bit self-conscious, seeing as she's not terribly used to being on camera. That, and devices like the ones she's using now aren't exactly commonplace for her. She thinks she's managing rather well, in any case.
With a few pats of her hair and a light clearing of her throat, she gets on with what she needs to say. ]
I'm afraid to say this brochure hasn't helped me at all. I mean, I suppose I've had to deal with stranger things, but I never honestly thought I'd find myself stuck in, well. Wonderland. [ She pauses as if someone's going to jump out and tell her it's all not real. Anyone? Anyone? Okay, maybe not. ] I'm not really sure what to make of it all.
[ ...Really, she'd love for this to be one of those prank programs. She wouldn't get mad! Honest!
She sighs softly. Probably best to start giving up on that hope now. ]
Could someone at least let me know if someone named Harry Potter is here? Or Ron Weasley? [ A touch of her usual bossiness comes through in the next sentence: ] It's very important that I know if they're here or not, so please respond as soon as possible. Thank you.
[ With that, she shuts off the feed. ]
IV
[ Hermione sat in the mansion's library doing what she did best: learning. She was surrounded by a pile of books, her nose nearly pressed into the one she was perusing now. It made her feel like she was doing something useful, anyway, trying to read up on everything she possibly could. How else would she be able to maintain her status as a human encyclopedia?
She makes a thoughtful noise at the paragraph she's just finished reading, then turns the page. It's going to be hard to pull her away from this book, no doubt about it. In fact, she's quite lost track of time, hardly realizing how late it is. Really, she should be getting to bed soon.
...Good luck trying to convince her of that. ]
((ooc: plot point is mid Half-Blood Prince! ))
I
If you're asking about those two, that must make you Hermione Granger.
[ He isn't foolish enough to think she'll recognize him when she's never met him as he is now, but if she's in disbelief at being in Wonderland, he's not about to spring "I'm your third year teacher and I know you from a series of books from the future just yet. ]
no subject
I--well. Yes, I am.
[ Maybe that means her friends are definitely here? It gives her mixed feelings. Regardless, she needs information, so she will get it! Her chest puffs out a bit. ]
So you've heard of them, haven't you? Are they here?

One hand comes up to rub at her temple as she tries to sort through the emotional overload she's dealing with. ]
I--I see. He's one of my best friends, so I suppose that's understandable.
[ Her hand drops with a small sigh. ] Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.
[ There's a slight pause. She immediately wants to run off and find Harry, but first... ]
I know this may sound a bit odd, but I feel like I know you from somewhere.
no subject
What I mean to say is, I believe you may have met a version of me from my own personal future. An.. adult me.
no subject
That's. Well. [ She opens and closes her mouth a few times. ] I guess I should get used to strange occurrences, especially with the level of magic here.
[ Slight pause. ]
If I knew who you were, I could confirm or deny your suspicions, of course.
no subject
My name is Remus Lupin.
[ He swallows and braces himself for the inevitable reaction. ]
no subject
She squints hard at the screen. As the seconds tick by, her eyes gradually widen. She can see some of the features she's used to seeing, just in a younger form.
Wait for it... ]
Pro-Professor?!
I
Which is why he's incredibly excited to see a familiar face. She seems older by a few years, but there's no mistaking who it is; ]
Hermione! [ He's grinning. He's not really sure if her being here would be considered good or bad, but he's definitely happy to see her regardless. ] Did you just get here? I bet you have loads of questions.
no subject
[ Give her a second. She's trying to get over how tiny he is and all the implications that come with that. ]
I-- [ She swallows down the millions of questions that immediately spring to mind, most of them concerning his current state. ] I just got here, yes.
[ There's a long pause. ]
What's the...last thing you remember before getting here?
[ Was she that small, too? Goodness. ]
no subject
Not that Harry knows how this place works, either, but that's besides the point. ]
Probably not the same thing you do. Me and Ron were about to crash his dad's car.
[ He still feels massively bad about it, too. ]
no subject
D-Definitely not! Harry, that--that was four years ago! A-And! You--!
[ She makes a strange, shrill noise. Sure, she's a witch. She's seen some crazy things! But this? It's--it's-- ]
What are you trying to pull? Ron put you up to this, didn't he?

And troubled. Everyone was troubled when they arrived here )
The books aren't going to just disappear.
( Or she coupd take them back to her room with her. If she had one - had she done that yet? )
no subject
Oh, sorry, I-- [ She shakes her head a bit to clear it. She was so into things she nearly thought Madam Pince had walked up to shoo her out. Maybe that's a sign she's been in here too long. ] They...might?
[ She's no stranger to books doing strange things. She distinctly remembers one in Hogwarts's library trying to smack her when she picked it up. (Then again, it was titled How Best to Surprise Your Enemies.) So she wouldn't put it past these books to try doing something similar, as full of magic as this place was.
Hermione returns her attention to the book in her hands. Well, half her attention. She's trying to be polite and give some attention to the girl who's just walked up, but this book has drawn her in too deeply. ]
Hello, by the winter. [ Slight pause. She was so busy reading that she said a word she just recently read instead of what she meant to say. ] Way, I mean. By the way.
[ She sighs at herself, forcing herself to lower the book. ] Hermione Granger. It's nice to meet you.

( They might possibly disappear during an event but Lydia expected that they would be back after it - maybe with more new additions. As a future librarian protege she is highly versed in the library. Frequent visitor membership holder )
I'm Lydia.
( And, without asking, Lydia sits herself down in the seat opposite from Hermione, tilting her head to try and see what she's reading, although the girl has it too well covered )
How long have you been here?
no subject
[ Hermione ponders that for a while, nearly forgetting she has a guest. What an interesting library this is!
Oh right, questions. She lowers her book slightly. ]
Oh, I, well. I only just recently arrived. Bit overwhelming, isn't it?
no subject
( Lydia could remember how it had felt when she'd arrived, and although she'd not found it as easy to accept when she'd arrived as she would have done if she'd been in the know about 'strange' things that possibly made it all the more overwhelming. So she definitely understood how long Hermione felt )
But if you're looking for answers in these books about this place you won't find any. It's what everyone tries. I could point you to Alice in Wonderland, it's the closest thing to an answer you'll get.
( But also confusing just on it's own )
Unless you're looking for something else.
the first!!
( The voice comes across the device without Luna's face attached, flowing out in her mystical tone. She'd managed to turn the device on but she isn't entirely sure what all of the functions do on it. At least she's fairly sure this is Hermione, unless someone has her under the Imperius Curse which would be a very disastrous thing )
There have been a lot of strange things that have been happening lately.
( And it wasn't Nargles. Or Crumple-Horned Snorkacks. Those other things were You Know Who and his followers. Although Luna doesn't know if she wants to say this was him too. Does he have a mansion? )
no subject
Too right, Luna. Bit of a mess we're in, isn't it?
[ At that, she waits. She's fully expecting Luna to come up with some preposterous magical creature to explain their situation. Any moment now. ]
no subject
At least it's not sticky. That could ruin our escape.
( She can be preposterous all by herself )
Do you think You Know Who did it? It would make Harry be alone.
no subject
And I don't know, honestly. But, er. We don't have to worry about Harry. Sort of? He's...here.
[ And tiny. ]
no subject
( She knows, but she doesn't always mind it. Sometimes it's nice to have peace, but it's very different when people are purposely avoiding you. When it isn't a game anyway )
Harry doesn't have to worry. Not when people believe in him.
Maybe we're here to protect Harry. From You Know Who. That wouldn't make it kidnapping really.
no subject
Suppose we'll have to, considering he's... [ Pause. ] Well, if I'm to believe what I heard, he's come from a time before V-Voldemort returned completely. He's--he hasn't even started our second year!
[ She's going to have so much spellwork to get him caught up on. ]
no subject
( Did Harry go back in time? She didn't know that Time Turners could go back that far - it could be very dangerous if it happened. Luna also hasn't heard of any creature that could do something like it )
Have you checked that it's Harry? Maybe someone used an old hair in a potion.
( Like three years old hair. That sounds like it could turn them in to a very young Harry )
