[Surprisingly--or perhaps not--Sesshoumaru finds this amusing. At least enough for a mild smile to cross his features. Somehow, the expression manages to look vaguely unpleasant.

Probably because he's casually getting a kick out of the reaction he's caused, to put it in simple terms.]

Hm. Have I struck a nerve? There's no need for such theatrics; clearing up the matter is sufficient.

[Of course...he doesn't feel bad for what he said. So who is he to lecture?]

[ It's not that Henry's really given up on any new family showing up, he just doesn't expect it anymore and wake up to check his messenger obsessively every morning. So, when a voice he hasn't heard in a long time comes across the network, he sits up slowly, eyes widening as he breaks out into a grin. ]

Grandma! I'm here! I'll come find you!

[ The mantra in their family has been passed on. ]

What floor are you on?

Hi! - video;

[personal profile] powerfulhope 2017-02-09 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Henry!

[ Of course someone in her family would be here. They've been through too much to be truly alone. At least that' what she'd hoped more than anything as soon as she'd stepped foot through the mansion doors. ]

I'm on the second floor. Are you okay? Are you hurt?

[ That's her first concern, everything else can come later, but she does catch a little hint of Charming in his voice and smile warmly.]

I'll explain everything when I get there.

[ Once he has her room number, Henry takes off from the eighth floor, not wanting to surprise her with the magic he's learned here in Wonderland because that might be too much too soon. It does make him wish for an elevator, though. Ten stories and no elevator? This place isn't as fancy as it thinks.

When Henry's at her door he knocks, and when she answers, he throws his arms around his grandmother, holding onto her tightly. He almost died once, over a vision of her baking cookies in her loft. He'd wanted to walk to her, which would have been like walking into 'the light.' Or something. ]

I missed you so much.

[ Has it really been that long since she's seen him? Regardless, Snow holds onto him tightly. ]

I'm right here, Henry. I'm not going anywhere else right now.

[ She's careful not to promise she never will because truthfully she has no idea. But for now, she's here and she guides him inside to her already mostly furnished apartment. Snow doesn't waste time. ]

Now. Hot cocoa with cinnamon and some explaining?

Sounds perfect.

[ He settles down on the couch and breathes in deeply because it already feels like grandma's house, and that's really the best feeling. As she goes to the closet, he looks around, then decides to just jump in. ]

So...being here is kind of like going through a portal to another world. But it's also like the curse. Time doesn't move at all when we're here, and when we go home, no one will ever know we were gone. That's why you don't know I've been here for almost three years.

[personal profile] powerfulhope 2017-02-09 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Snow has two cups in her hand when he says that, still getting used to the magic closets and being wary of whatever price they have to pay. But that's pretty far down on her list of concerns. She thinks suddenly about everything that's happened in three years, but he doesn't look like he did three years ago. ]

You said...time doesn't move. You look just like you did when I saw you last, Henry.

[ She sits down beside him, handing him his cocoa and simply cradling her own, keeping her hands warm. ]

[personal profile] henrydaniel 2017-02-09 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. I've been home a few times. The last thing I remember is...

[ He squints, thinking back. ]

Being in New York and saving you and Gramps, Killian and Zelena.

[ Oh, speaking of. ]

Zelena's here. So is Regina, so I haven't been alone. Mom's been here longer than I have. And...you've been here before too, so if people say hi to you but you don't recognize them, that's why.

[personal profile] powerfulhope 2017-02-09 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[ Does she tell him what's happening? Oh goodness. And Regina and Zelena here together? That's quite a combination. ]

A little bit has happened since you've been here, then. Everyone's okay, though.

[ Snow says that maybe a little too quickly? But technically she's not wrong. There's just this weird dual sleeping curse thing happening and uh...his cloned evil mother. But, you know. Everyone's fine. ]
henrydaniel: (✍ 50)

[personal profile] henrydaniel 2017-02-09 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Yeah, okay. Henry's part Charming and part...Stiltskin. He knows how to read between the 'everyone's okay' lines. ]

Grandma, what's going on? It's okay, you can tell me.

[ He can handle it. He got through Robin dying and his dad dying. Those were two of the lowest points of his life. He can get through whatever else she has to say. ]

[personal profile] powerfulhope 2017-02-09 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Snow takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly before taking a sip of her cocoa, then putting the cup on the coffee table. ]

Well. Do you remember the story of Jekyll and Hyde?

[ Or did they ever get to that in English class? No? She can't remember, but he's a smart boy. ]

That's happening in Storybrooke. only it's not Jekyll and Hyde. Not anymore. It's...Regina and the Evil Queen.
henrydaniel: (✍ 73)

[personal profile] henrydaniel 2017-02-09 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...What?

[ Give Henry a minute because he doesn't understand this at all. ]

How? And what's the Evil Queen doing to everyone?

[ Because she will; if she's separate from his mom and how she's a hero now, that means the Evil Queen just has to be...evil.

He literally just got done dealing with an evil mom, and now he has another one. ]

[personal profile] powerfulhope 2017-02-09 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Science. Emma and I sort of...encouraged your mom to separate herself from the Evil Queen and crush her heart.

[ Wow, saying it out loud sounds like a terrible idea. ]

And she did but it didn't work. So now there's two of them but we've been keeping the Evil Queen at bay. Mostly. It's...she...cursed David and I so that only one of us can be awake at a time.

[ Snow says that last part so fast because wow, they never saw it coming. ]

( Look, if it comes down to yourself or someone else... well, what are you going to do? The human instinct for survival is a complicated, difficult thing, impossible to overcome.

Nobody wants to die.

(It'd been like a drug. Her life had been normal, astonishingly so. Wake up, go to work, go home, relax. Nice, safe.

Incredibly boring.

And really? Death dreams? Of all the powers? So not fun. Can you blame a girl, can you really, for liking that first hit of power, the rush of falling into chaos, finding a new life - a better life. She was a contender. The champion. One more round and-

Well. It doesn't matter now. Whatever this place is, it isn't where they were and she was a secretary, miss note taker, miss communication. It'd been important to note little details, and here there are only big ones, like the air around them and the weight of time.

- And that little observation habit, the one that let her tell the guys in back when someone was coming in with murder in their eyes (figuratively speaking) or not worth their time? It came in such use when she started surviving, winning. Figuring out who the weakest ones were, the easiest ones to pick off. Like Lily, poor girl. So messed up by her gift.)

But, this time, the panic, the confusion, they're all real, nothing but the remnants of the girl who grew up knowing nothing but a dully coloured reality. Nothing but school and work and boyfriends. Nothing but a day in, day out of emails and letters and phone calls-

Nothing that could prepare her for this.

So she raises her hands, plain and boring and human looking. )

It might not even work, now.

( But she'll at least not pretend that she doesn't know what he means.

Would it work here? After everything? )

What?

[ Wow. That's...they encouraged Regina to crush a heart? Even if it was the Evil Queen's...wow. ]

So you and gramps are both under a sleeping curse? Who woke you up?

captain kathryn janeway | star trek: voyager.

[personal profile] directives 2017-02-10 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
i. action: arrival (mansion)
[ without fail, red alert sounds at the most inopportune of times. such as when the captain is actually heeding the advice of her holographic chief medical officer (for once) and taking a much needed break from her never-ending list of duties on the holodeck. thus, it's while adorning a dress straight out of the victorian era that she darts out into the corridor, bumping into a few engineering-bound crewmen as the ship rocks from the force of unseen weapons fire. she barely has time to swing by her quarters to grab the necessities -- her combadge, tricorder, and just in case: phaser -- on her way to the bridge. no time to change into uniform.

this was supposed to be friendly territory. she spent two weeks negotiating voyager's passage through this region. if whoever was firing on them had any sort of ties to the magistrate of this system, there were going to be words. a very unpleasant series of them. ]

Helm, hold our position. Tuvok, I want to know who's firing on us and--

[ it takes a moment for the unfamiliar scenery of the mansion to catch up with her. she'd been walking and talking on autopilot, quickly switching the proverbial gears to manual control.

was she still on the holodeck? ]

Computer, end program. [ nothing. ] Computer, display exit. [ nope. ] Janeway to Bridge, respond. [ not happening. ]

Janeway to Voyager. [ silence. she huffs in annoyance, rolling her eyes. this is the last thing she needs. ] ...of course.

ii. action: later (kitchen)
[ she can be found in the kitchen later on in the day, petticoat tossed aside while elbow-deep in the depths of a partially gutted microwave. immodest for a victorian woman, but practical for a woman from the 24th century who was attempting to macgyver antique parts together in a futile attempt at boosting frequency of the subspace beacon in her combadge. ]

iii. network: audio only
"Welcome to Wonderland," [ she reads aloud, skimming through the pamphlet she's been handed. the literary reference is unfortunately lost on her. alice's adventures in wonderland wasn't required reading at starfleet academy. ] Ominous, but a relatively tame greeting in comparison to some of the others I've heard. Certainly beats "the weak will perish" and "resistance is futile."

How accurate is the information presented in this pamphlet? [ aka if it's watered down, she wants to hear the unfiltered version. ]

...Well, that's all just fantastic, isn't it. Are you being literal when you say talking to the mirrors? I feel like you're being literal.
adaptiveimmunities: (hear me out)

Re: Network

[personal profile] adaptiveimmunities 2017-02-10 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Quasi-literal, because it's more like writing. Backwards. But there are people on the other side, and they're watching (isn't that spooky?), and they write back.
cisskabob: (Seriously?)

Re: Network

[personal profile] cisskabob 2017-02-10 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so. Let me make sure I've got this right. There are people on the other sides of the mirrors who watch us, and we can write to each other? And this place can read our minds and turn our crappy memories into reality just to mess with us?
adaptiveimmunities: (laughing)

Re: Network

[personal profile] adaptiveimmunities 2017-02-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
[He pauses to consider, then nods.]

Basically yeah. With the bonus that the people on the other side of the mirror are twisted copies of us.
cisskabob: (Bitch please)

[Bruce has been here long enough to know that there are people from different worlds and different time periods and things that shouldn't go together often do. so even though she's dressed up like someone from the victorian period Bruce doesn't assume that means she doesn't know what she's doing.

her world could be something steam punk themed, after all.

but either way she seems very adapt at what she's doing which is enough to catch his attention, distracting him momentarily from the task of getting himself coffee. he makes his way over.
]

If you're trying to find a way to send communications out of this place, you'll be disappointed.

[he may have tried to see if he could contact Alfred at one point.]
