[In Barbara's mind, Wonderland was a delight. Sure she was losing so much she had fought tooth and nail for in Gotham, but it was a land seemingly made from the sort of madness that literally bred in the very foundation of the city she loved.

She just couldn't help herself though when she saw that well known Gotham scion had arrived in Wonderland.]

If it's money you're looking for, here, let me just throw some at you.

[Mocking tones as she came into view of the screen, all bright smiles and wide eyes.]

'Fraid to tell you that's not going to do you much here, though feel free to pass it my way if you're feeling so generous.

[It only seemed to make her smile widen to go on.]

Welcome to Wonderland. Far as I can tell, this is home from now on. Isn't that delightful?

[Another smile and her gaze turned coy.]

Course, this could just all be in your mind. Run into Tetch lately?

[ He shakes his head a little. It's a lot to take in. ]

That's a little hard to believe.

[ He knows he's dead, the idea of... someone, or even who he is making that otherwise is a terrifying prospect. That's without taking "magic" into account.

They never did test the limits of his ability to heal. ]

Where I'm from, [ his universe, Kon called it. ] they're probably creating you.

[ He makes a note to go looking for those residents as soon as possible, nodding at Bruce's words. ]

[ Bruce doesn't have to beat around the bush with that, but Clark doesn't want to bring it up needlessly. It's a tough subject without what's going on around them. ]

Thank you for rescuing my mother. I didn't get the chance to, before.

It was the least I could do. I couldn't -- [The words are difficult to articulate, something he hasn't said out loud but had certainly felt in the moment. He couldn't save his own mother, but he could save Clark, and in that moment he had remembered why he became Batman to begin with.

He clears his throat.]

No one should have to lose their parents like that.

[ Clark looks away, focusing his senses on the wind in the garden. He read up a little, after they'd met, but judged Bruce to be a typical socialite with too much time on his hands and would have left thinking that was all there was to him. The loss of a family is unimaginable. Even Clark without a world had the Kents, and Lois. ]

[ That's the last they'll speak of it. ]

Er, do you know who the mysterious woman with us was?

[The only family Bruce has left is Alfred, and if he didn't have him he'd probably be much worse off than he already had been. Losing his parents had been bad enough, but after he lost Jason as well he had withdrawn into himself in ways that were largely unhealthy. ]

Her name is Diana. She's helping me find the others like her I discovered through Luthor's files.

[ Of course Luthor had files. It felt like he knew everything. Clark settles into the chair, and his incredulous expression turns thoughtful. ]

How many others? What are you planning to do?

I'm forming a team. People who can work together to protect the planet. I have a feeling we'll need it sooner as opposed to later.

[The weird vision he had of the future comes to mind, for one thing. Also the cryptic message Luthor had given him when he visited the man in prison. The bell has already been rung.

They have to be prepared.]

[Well that's... damn. Even knowing it's happened, it's weird thinking of Superman as someone who can die. Someone who just did die? This is... confusing.]

Well I know a few people who've become baristas. [ says klaus with some contemplation to the fact. he may or may not be condescending to such a profession, though more accurately to the lack of intellect and ambition it takes to land on such an essential eternity barricaded in the prison of wonderland. there are better things to do with one's time. (it hardly occurs to him he offers no higher contributions here unless you count scheming against their absent wardens and painting in the confines of his room, though it would do little if he did; however, what a digression.)

glancing at his feed, he answers (more) seriously. ] Though most seem to fill the shoes of their prior life's purpose, in one way or another.

Brother?? [Tim is shocked enough that he doesn't even remember to take his hand away from the handshake. He's trying to figure out how that even works. He's an only child. He's always been and only child, and Conner doesn't look anything like either of his parents. He just looks like himself, if more nicely dressed than usual.]

Can I ask how that even works?

[Wanda has no destination in particular -- she's just wandering around for now. She's just come into the music room, and was just going to walk on through, but stops to listen to the woman playing on the piano. Chloe may be doing it slowly and inelegantly, but it's still a lot better than what Wanda could pull off for sure.

[ This must be what people feel when they meet their favorite celebrities, except Princess Leia (GENERAL) is more than that. Henry's seen every movie in the Star Wars universe more times than he can count, and considering his own story is full of women who don't wait around for men to do the saving, Leia is naturally is favorite.

As soon as he realized stories are real somewhere, there's just a person putting pen to paper and making them come alive to people who can't experience them first hand, he knew everything in Star Wars was real, somewhere. It had to be. And now, here's proof. And she's saying a lot of things new people say, but Henry already knows she's going to figure it out. She's Leia. She doesn't need some kid's help. And yet. ]

We're all here without knowing why. It's...I mean, a lot of people are trying to figure it out but there's a Queen. And she lives on the other side of the mirrors, but I don't think we're really on another planet just a different dimension? It's...I mean there's a lot. It's complicated. Not like...easy to understand.

[ Excellent, Henry. Good job. ]

[Tim isn't much of a chef, technically, but he is basically capable of feeding himself, and he goes back and forth on how much he wants to trust Wonderland's prepared meals. Sure, you can sit down and think of anything you want and it's there, but do you really know what's in it? Maybe it's soylent. Maybe it's bugs. You don't know. Technically, you don't know that what's in the kitchen is what it appears to be either, but at least it looks, smells, and tastes right, and you're assembling it yourself.

So today, Tim's feeling more like he'd prefer to take his chances by making his food, rather than having it handed to him, and he heads down to the kitchen. He's not planning anything really complicated. Stir fry is pretty basic, and rice is easy.

He is surprised when he recognizes the other boy in the kitchen, though. It's not like they've ever met in person--not at this age, anyway--but Tim has seen plenty of pictures. Any time any reporter decides to do a piece of any length on Bruce, childhood pictures show up. It doesn't prepare him to see him in person though. He blinks several times in surprise, then moves the rest of the way into the kitchen, heading toward the refrigerator.]

[Here's one smug asshole you might recognize, leaning against the door frame to the music room. It's as if the song called to him and he appeared. Funny, that.

Canon points are a silly thing.]

I didn't know you could play, Detective. [He tilts his head a bit at her.] Not well, obviously, but at least the notes were mostly on tempo.

Yeah, with my big sisters and everyone else there.

[But who cares about that place--]

So you're Frisk! Are there other kids here too? [... Oh!] Do you know Ib, by any chance?

[She had a family. That's...lovely, in its own way. A nice thing for everyone, even if they can't really think of what it would be like, having sisters or brothers or siblings aside from Chara. Chara's the only sibling they have and need.

Frisk shakes their head, their mouth twisting, regretfully.]

There's lots of other kids. I don't know any "Ib."

[And on an impulse, before they can stop themself - ]

[Bruce allowed himself only the slightest widening of the eyes when he saw Barbara.]

[His feelings for the woman were still...so mixed. He could remember, once upon a time, when she would have been considered a friend. She'd taken in Selina for a while, hadn't she? And she'd been close to Jim Gordan. Then things started spiraling out of control, as was a common occurrence in Gotham, and the next thing Bruce knew, she was in on a plot to kill him.]

[If that tone--and name--were any indication, she had yet to rid herself of that goal.]

...Tetch is here?

[She could have been bluffing. Trying to get a rise out of him. But the information was too important to risk labeling a bluff without further information.]

[Bruce glanced up mid-page at the voice.]

[Unsurprisingly, there was little recognition in his eyes as he scanned the other boy over once, very briefly. Whatever he saw in that moment warranted a polite smile and nod of the head. When he spoke, his tone was pleasant. Even friendly.]

Hello.

I'm Bruce Wayne. [Because it was polite to offer one's name before asking.] And you are...?

Oh...

[And for a moment, she looks disappointed. However, it doesn't last very long as, quite suddenly, Mary's reaching out to try to grab Frisk's hands to hold with her own.]

That's okay, that just means you and I can be friends! You'll be... well, not my first friend because that was Ib, but you'll be the first boy I've ever befriended!

[... Garry doesn't count, because Garry is a grown up and a loser.]

[Killing Bruce was not in her game plans. Not anymore. Who knew what the future could hold though! Of course now, her future was this place and that did change a few things.

Everything but for the things that brought her joy. Most of which were born of being not quite there.]

Not that I've seen, but it does explain a lot, doesn't it?

I mean, it's not as if Arkham doesn't have a history of letting out those that aren't quite all there despite their release. I mean, look at Nygma... and Penguin.

[Not to mention herself, but she wasn't going there.]

[Somehow, the compliment didn't carry the same weight it once might have.]

Both of their releases were publicized. Tetch's would be too. I would have heard.

True. If he was released above board and not, you know, escaped.

Come on. You would rather believe we're been kidnapped to Wonderland than this is all in your head?

[She wasn't sure which she believed, but she was afraid to believe it was real, because any minute it could all turn on her and just be a game.]
