I've been here for a little over a month. [He starts pulling vegetables out of the fridge and setting them onto the cutting board.] I wasn't sure whether to believe it or not at first. I'm still not, in some ways.

[He hesitates as he catches that look and the word too. He looks over at her, expression fading into sympathy.]

[She crosses her arms, raising an eyebrow behind her sunglasses.] What were you muttering about anyway? Singing the alphabet song under your breath to help you find something?

[That little tactic wouldn't have worked at the Twister, and it wasn't going to work here. There were times when violence was most definitely the answer, but this wasn't it. Not yet, anyway.]

This place is full of prisoners. You'd just be killing a bunch of other people who can't leave either. [A beat.] And then they'd just come back, and they'd probably be pissed.

[Fiona has a big capacity for bullshit and insanity. You aren't a Gallagher without the ability to roll with the punches and making the best out of a fucked up, shitty situation that life decides to hand you.

That said, this is completely out of the realm of anything she has ever dealt with. Probably the closest thing to it was that time Frank got himself tbrown in jail. In Canada.

She's gotten the spiel from some poor soul that came across her in the gardens earlier. Wonderland, alternate dimensions, blah blah bullshit. She's not buying it. No way.

I prefer not to follow any examples at all. I would rather be me, as much as possible.

[He shrugs, a very lazy sort of gesture, still smiling faintly. He likes being able to make his own path, and he's done a few terrible things to be able to. Even if he might regret them now, he isn't going to waste the chance.]

I was attempting some research of my own, but this library appears to believe my topic of interest doesn't exist. Which is rather unusual, given that I clearly do.

...I'll bear that in mind, as well. No woods, no water.

[Swimming was never really an option, given that Loki sinks like a stone; not surprising when he weighs about three normal people. The woods he might have tried, though, so it's nice to not accidentally wind up dead. He's not sure how that would work here, if he'd come back at all.]

I've tried a few others, but not down yet. It sounds like a lot of work, but... I suppose if all other options are out...

[That was a long time to be a kidnapping victim. And yet...just as those he spoke with over the communication device provided for them--(which gave no access to anywhere outside Wonderland, because of course he'd already made attempts)--Tim seemed so calm about everything. There was no immediate danger. They could wander the lands freely at their own will.]

Nothing about any of this makes sense.

No it doesn't. [He slides a small pile of peppers to one side and starts working on an onion.] Alternate universes and timelines. Fiction become reality. Alice in Wonderland is a thing where you're from, right?

[He's fairly sure of the answer, but he's still testing the water a little. He'd been very surprised by adult Bruce, and it's certainly burned him on making assumptions.]

[Although, particularly after speaking with Barbara...he frowned, his brows furrowing in thought as he attempted a connection. No matter how insane it might have seemed.]

There was a man. Jervis Tetch. He had a sister named Alice.

It's...difficult to explain, but he had this sort of...ability. A type of hypnosis. And a drug. It could...I guess you could say it warped one's grip on reality. Turned them mad.

There was someone else here I recognized. She mentioned his name when we spoke. I didn't want to believe it was true, because he'd been arrested and locked away, but...at this point in time, I can't rule anything out.

[The knife slipped. Tim managed to get his hand out of the way in time that he only shaved off part of a fingernail, rather than losing a fingertip, but his surprise was obvious. In Tim's own universe, Tetch hadn't started operating until Bruce was an adult. Not a teenager Tim's own age or a little younger.]

I bet it was a nasty schock waking up in Wonderland, then.

I mean, it's worth a try, but my hopes aren't high. [They thought of flying. They have to have thought of digging too.] They seem pretty thorough.

Alistair only drinks one thing these days, but the bar is still an attractive destination for him, because it offers opportunities for nocturnal people-watching. And perhaps also some social interaction, if no escape presents itself. His years in the Camarilla have taught him the importance of showing one's face around town and getting to know who's who.

There's a small gin and tonic in front of him, as a sort of disguise, but he hasn't touched the stuff.

If Isabela's trip to the bar is an evening one, he'll be there, unobtrusively sat with his chin on one splayed out hand. Half-there. It's noisy in here, at least for him, inside his skull. For every chattering drinker there's a medley of shouted suggestions in his mind, giving him fantastic supernatural insight into how it feels to start having a headache.

Her voice cuts through the sound. He looks up with interest.

A game played with cards, says a silent voice in his ear, and it's all he can do not to sarcastically thank it out loud.

"Madam, I don't know that particular game," he says instead, "but cards were once a vice of mine, if you don't mind playing the teacher."
