[Tim almost--almost--doesn't give the young man a second look. He notices him, of course, but immediately classifies him as "young man in suit who I don't know," and starts to walk by, then stops when he registers the actual face.

It's Kon.

Sure, he's not dressed in the costume, and he looks a bit older, but Tim has been collecting superhero secret IDs since he was nine, and it would be pretty embarrassing if he didn't recognize his own best friend, no matter how he's dressed.]

Uh. Kon?

[cloned]

[Conner turns towards him, raising an eyebrow.]

Conner. But nice try, Tim. [His brother, though not this one. Still, a useful connection, provided he can get Tim's trust. That could mean pretending to be his Real, but any Tim's going to be too smart to fall for that, and despite his Luthor DNA, Conner isn't the best liar.]

Kon would be... my Real, correct?

[Tim blinks a few times in surprise.] ...Yes. I suppose. Kon is my friend. And... it sounds like you're not him. It's nice to meet you, Conner.

[cloned]

And you. [Conner offers Tim his hand for a firm handshake, though it's not unhumanly firm thanks to hours of practice.] The Tim on the other side of the Mirrors is my brother.

Brother?? [Tim is shocked enough that he doesn't even remember to take his hand away from the handshake. He's trying to figure out how that even works. He's an only child. He's always been and only child, and Conner doesn't look anything like either of his parents. He just looks like himself, if more nicely dressed than usual.]

Can I ask how that even works?

[Conner gives him an amused look at the shock.] My Dad adopted you. Obviously. Aren't you supposed to be really smart?

[There is a very large part of him that wants to bristle at the jibe in Conner's tone, but he's too busy trying to take the rest of it in, and feeling like he's somehow missing a huge piece of this puzzle.]

Your dad.

[Clark finally decided to step up? And what the hell does that have to do with him?]

[Conner nods.] Lex Luthor.

[He sighs, rolling his eyes.] I knew you'd be weird about this.

[...Knew he would get weird. The whole situation is weird, and that is not Tim's fault.]

Conner, I live with my father [sort of, aside from the boarding school thing], in Gotham. There is nothing about your story that is not completely insane.

[cloned]

[Conner gives him an uncomfortable, sad look.]

Your father... your birth father, anyway, died. I'm sorry.

[That stops Tim. Of course something would have had to have happened, in order for Tim to be adopted by anyone, but.]

...How?

[Because of course he can't help poking at that wound.]

[cloned]

[Conner grimaces. He may be Luthor's son, but he's also Kal-El's, and he still doesn't like delivering bad news.] Look, obviously it happened differently for you. Does it matter?

I don't know. ...Is it something I could have prevented?

[cloned]

Not unless you had a trip to Haiti you didn't tell me about.

I've always wondered if there was anything I could have done to keep them from going.

Hey, it's not like you could have known.
