[It's a slick, acidic cling to his nostrils and the back of his throat, painting his insides in a symphony of reds and oranges; the way his house lit up like a beacon, and the way he knew that every instrument within would be nothing, nothing, nothing but ash. A stupid thing to get upset over. Having lost his house, having lost everything, having been stripped of every safehouse, every retreat, every backdrawn mark - and he gets upset over some damn instruments.]

[Right now the only risk Alex poses, other than the obvious risk he poses to himself pretty much by default, is the fact that he might learn that Jay's here. Or the fact that he might elect to finish what he started, where Tim is concerned. Can he even remember that?]
