SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER TEST DRIVE MEME
It's Chinese for 'Japan.'

Prompt A: Serious Event

A memory is displayed. It's yours, the most traumatic of your life whether it was a terrifying clown encounter or the death of someone you love. It's on a loop for everyone to see. You can enter the memory and take your own place, but no matter how hard you try, you cannot alter the outcome. You're forced to try in vain to change what happened or watch until you decide it's too much and walk away. If you can.

Prompt B: Lighter Event

Welcome to Storybrooke.

You've lived in a quiet town in Maine for as long as you can remember. You are a fishmonger or a diner employee, perhaps you work at the hospital. Whatever you do and whoever you are, it's not the real you. You are cursed and you know no other life outside of Storybrooke.

When the curse breaks (either from True Love's Kiss or, in a more TDM friendly, handwaved way), you have two sets of memories: who you were, and who you are. Do you choose to accept all that you were cursed to believe, or would you rather slip back into your old life? The choice is yours.

Prompt C: ediS rorriM

Use this prompt to test out your mirrors. Are they loyal to the new White Queen or do they think she's too good to be true? Do they long to cross over or spend their days tormenting reals? Whatever the scenario, know that the Queen is watching, and let that guide you - or not.

Prompt D: Choices

Any scenario goes! Thread out your character's arrival, have them act like a long-established resident, let our past events inspire your scene, or write up literally any Wonderland-based scenario you feel like playing with.

Rules

Test drive memes go up every other month. Please note that any threads made as part of the test drive meme don't count towards your activity check, and they can't be used as samples for any future applications. Thank you for understanding, and have fun!

"Without them, there would be no Scotch." Whiskey yes, but not Scotch whiskey. "I imagine for many that would be a sadder world."

Anne can't help but grin, "And it would be fair for the country that makes Scotch to know a good remedy."

There's a pause, almost a glitch. "I --" it's like the words have vanished for a moment, "-- of course I knew plenty growing up." She can't think of another reason, "perhaps it's a bit of nostalgia on my part."

"Do you?"

There it is.

There isn't a lot of magic in the World Without Magic. But sometimes there's just enough to give someone a little nudge. She isn't sure how much of a nudge she should give Jemma, but she's going to keep dancing around the edges.

"Oh, no. When I was in my early twenties wandering phase I went tropical, not European. I've never been."

When it's a nudge concerning the most important person in another life? Nudging can be dangerous, but who is to say for whom in this situation.

"You never made it across the Channel? Pity. You missed out on plenty of history, like Rosalind Franklin, Ada Lovelace, Hertha Ayrton, oh I could go on and on," because everyone wants to know the history of Britain through science.

"But I have a special affinity for the Scottish, odd, I know for a girl from Devon," Anne has no idea why she's circled back to the Scottish.

Drizella gives a small shrug in return, because people have affinities for things that reach beyond their means. But right now the Scottish end of things is important and Drizella very much wants to know what Jemma - currently Anne - knows.

"Not odd at all," she says with a small smile. "I'm pretty fascinated with Hawaii, even though I've never been in my life. We all have our little ... eccentricities."

We all have those weeks!

"Did you know someone from Hawaii? Enjoyed a movie about it, or a book? I've always dreamed of going to the birthplaces of famous scientists, but I doubt I'll ever make it to Zloda in Belarus." Of all birthplaces, she picks that one? Why? Anne wouldn't be able to explain it, only Jemma could.

"It's amazing the little things that stick with us and we have no idea why, isn't it?" Is it? Is it really?

"It certainly is," Drizella admits with a small smirk. "The human brain is a funny thing. It just soaks up all of this information and who knows when it's going to come out and be relevant again."

Or, you know, magically brainwashed missing memories that are just lurking under the surface of your cursed self. Or something.
