MAY/JUNE TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the EWAY TDM!

Prompt A: Serious Event

Hellhounds are coming for a visit! For the first day of the event, residents will hear crazy howling coming from the direction of the forest, but it's off in the distance. If anyone investigates, they won't be able to find the source of the howling.

On the morning of the second day, the hounds approach the mansion. They are invisible, only able to be seen by demons, but they can certainly be heard by their growls, snarls, and barking. They aren't the most delicate of beasts, so there will be plenty of broken furniture and doors as they charge around inside the Mansion.

Hellhounds take no prisoners. They attack viciously and woe betide those who end up in the same room as one. A death by hellhound is nasty and probably slightly traumatizing, if remembered. Here is what one would expect when a hellhound comes near.

There are defenses against them: lining plenty of salt along doorways and windows, or even standing in a circle of it can keep them at bay. They can also be blown to high heaven, if one can rig up a bomb big enough. Barring a door very well can also help, but hellhounds are strong and tenacious, so they'll eventually break it down. They just won't stop once they have someone's scent.

Prompt B: Lighter Event

This event is bringing movies to life! For each character, there will be one movie represented in the mansion in some way. This will most likely be either a setting change (where part of the setting just shows up on the grounds or inside), the sudden appearance of creatures or animals (because everyone needs velociraptors running around), or the general themes of the movie affecting the population (like some mysterious American Pie rooms on the second floor that make people want to lose their virginity before their high school graduation).

How do you decide which movie your character would bring to the mansion? Well, one of two ways. The first is that if your character is from a canon where they would have watched movies, then you would pick something that they have seen. Movies that only exist in their canon are 100% okay to inflict on the mansion. The second is that if your character is from the past/a mystical magical movieless land/just doesn't care about movies, then you're free to pick any movie you want to add to the mix. Movies that they have seen in the mansion are also okay to use, if you would prefer.

For the characters who are film buffs, big fans of a movie, or just plain watch too many movies, this event will go one step further. These characters will think that they are actually a part of whatever movie the mansion brought to the event on their behalf. They will take on one of the character roles from this movie and thoroughly believe that they are really this character. Being plucked out of their movie will not phase them too much – they will be trying to stick to the general plot of their movie as much as possible. They will gain or lose abilities based on who they think they are (someone from Star Wars might be able to use a lightsaber, but if they were a wizard before they wouldn't be able to use their wand for this event), and their personality will change accordingly, but there will still be traces of who they really are underneath. Little details that don't quite match, like certain phobias or their annoying habit of whistling too much. Of course, their friends who don't have any interest at all in movies will be thoroughly confused and probably try to snap them out of their craziness, but that most likely won't be easy. They're busy! They have to go blow up the Death Star! Or find their son Nemo! Or stop the aliens from stealing all their women and gold!

Prompt C: ediS rorriM

The mirror side is Queen-less. Or so it appears. How do the mirrors cope with this new turn events, what do they do? What does it mean to be a mirror? Feel free to have your mirrors contemplate it together, or reach out to their real counterparts by writing on mirrors to communicate.

Prompt D: Choices

Any scenario goes! Thread out your character's arrival, have them act like a long-established resident, let our past events inspire your scene, or write up literally any Wonderland-based scenario you feel like playing with.

Rules

Test drive memes go up every other month. Please note that ONE (1) TDM thread may be used as an application sample. Minimum 5 sentences. ♥ TDM threads do not count for AC. ♥ The next TDM will be for July/August ♥ Have fun!

"So you're like... a junior cop or something?"

Oh. And that last comment makes Louis' eyebrows raise. Well. That's sure a thing.

"Wait. Dude. Do you think you're actually in the movie? You know none of it's real, right? This is just Regular Wonderland Bullshit."

But if Wonderland is making people believe they truly are the characters in their movies... well. That tracks.

"Do you remember Wonderland?"

"Not a cop. A consulting detective. Mr. Holmes invented the profession." Conan eyes him with more than a little skepticism.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Wonderland? What's that? And you still haven't explained what a movie is or why it means that something isn't real."
teamfun: (This is a battle I don't want to lose)

[personal profile] teamfun 2019-06-09 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like... like Sherlock Holmes?"

Oh boy. Well, that explained a lot more. Great. Wonderland is back to being weird and playing in people's heads again.

"A movie is-" okay, he just has to think logically about this, how would he explain it to AJ? "It's a picture that moves and talks and tells a story. That's what this is. A movie. But you think it's real when it's... actually really not."

"So you have heard of him." Not that it was terribly surprising. Thanks to Mr, Watson, Mr. Holmes had become well known lately.

And... Conan didn't believe a word of that. "You could at least have come up with a more plausible story."
teamfun: (With nothing to show for them)

[personal profile] teamfun 2019-06-10 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah? I think most people have? What with the books and the movies and TV shows and everything. Pretty sure there was a video game, too."

Though if this kid really thinks he's part of the actual Sherlock story then that probably makes zero sense to him.

"Buddy, if I could make a half-plausible story as the sort of insane crap Wonderland puts us through on the daily, I could be the greatest storyteller of all time."

Right. Conan abruptly decides that he didn't have the time to figure out whether this was delusions or wild stories. He had work to do. And with Mr. Holmes being out of town, this was all down to him.

He very rudely ignores all of that and starts walking away.
teamfun: (I hold a magic in my hands)

[personal profile] teamfun 2019-06-12 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, super rude. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how Conan wants to look at it) Louis isn't so easily deterred. He whistles to himself, sticking his hands in his pockets and falling into step beside the kid.

"Sooooo. You're on a mystery, huh? Is it a good one?"

[personal profile] spoilsfun 2019-06-13 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
This was definitely unlucky. Not that should have been any surprise, considering the kind of luck he usually suffered from. Conan gives himself a moment to be irritated, and then sighs and decides he was just going to have to deal with it.

"Jack the Ripper was spotted last night."
teamfun: (I swear I lived)

[personal profile] teamfun 2019-06-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course. Louis cants his head, he vaguely remembers that story. He was always an arts kid more than a history one. But the Jack the Ripper mythos had a life all of its own.

"Cool," he nods, because obviously, he's part of this now. "Wasn't he some prince?"
