MAY/JUNE TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the EWAY TDM!

Prompt A: Serious Event

Hellhounds are coming for a visit! For the first day of the event, residents will hear crazy howling coming from the direction of the forest, but it's off in the distance. If anyone investigates, they won't be able to find the source of the howling.

On the morning of the second day, the hounds approach the mansion. They are invisible, only able to be seen by demons, but they can certainly be heard by their growls, snarls, and barking. They aren't the most delicate of beasts, so there will be plenty of broken furniture and doors as they charge around inside the Mansion.

Hellhounds take no prisoners. They attack viciously and woe betide those who end up in the same room as one. A death by hellhound is nasty and probably slightly traumatizing, if remembered. Here is what one would expect when a hellhound comes near.

There are defenses against them: lining plenty of salt along doorways and windows, or even standing in a circle of it can keep them at bay. They can also be blown to high heaven, if one can rig up a bomb big enough. Barring a door very well can also help, but hellhounds are strong and tenacious, so they'll eventually break it down. They just won't stop once they have someone's scent.

Prompt B: Lighter Event

This event is bringing movies to life! For each character, there will be one movie represented in the mansion in some way. This will most likely be either a setting change (where part of the setting just shows up on the grounds or inside), the sudden appearance of creatures or animals (because everyone needs velociraptors running around), or the general themes of the movie affecting the population (like some mysterious American Pie rooms on the second floor that make people want to lose their virginity before their high school graduation).

How do you decide which movie your character would bring to the mansion? Well, one of two ways. The first is that if your character is from a canon where they would have watched movies, then you would pick something that they have seen. Movies that only exist in their canon are 100% okay to inflict on the mansion. The second is that if your character is from the past/a mystical magical movieless land/just doesn't care about movies, then you're free to pick any movie you want to add to the mix. Movies that they have seen in the mansion are also okay to use, if you would prefer.

For the characters who are film buffs, big fans of a movie, or just plain watch too many movies, this event will go one step further. These characters will think that they are actually a part of whatever movie the mansion brought to the event on their behalf. They will take on one of the character roles from this movie and thoroughly believe that they are really this character. Being plucked out of their movie will not phase them too much – they will be trying to stick to the general plot of their movie as much as possible. They will gain or lose abilities based on who they think they are (someone from Star Wars might be able to use a lightsaber, but if they were a wizard before they wouldn't be able to use their wand for this event), and their personality will change accordingly, but there will still be traces of who they really are underneath. Little details that don't quite match, like certain phobias or their annoying habit of whistling too much. Of course, their friends who don't have any interest at all in movies will be thoroughly confused and probably try to snap them out of their craziness, but that most likely won't be easy. They're busy! They have to go blow up the Death Star! Or find their son Nemo! Or stop the aliens from stealing all their women and gold!

Prompt C: ediS rorriM

The mirror side is Queen-less. Or so it appears. How do the mirrors cope with this new turn events, what do they do? What does it mean to be a mirror? Feel free to have your mirrors contemplate it together, or reach out to their real counterparts by writing on mirrors to communicate.

Prompt D: Choices

Any scenario goes! Thread out your character's arrival, have them act like a long-established resident, let our past events inspire your scene, or write up literally any Wonderland-based scenario you feel like playing with.

Rules

Test drive memes go up every other month. Please note that ONE (1) TDM thread may be used as an application sample. Minimum 5 sentences. ♥ TDM threads do not count for AC. ♥ The next TDM will be for July/August ♥ Have fun!

As you said. [At least this Enterprise sounds like it’s in one piece.

He tilts his head to the side thoughtfully]

You will forgive me, Captain. I am unfamiliar with that vessel.

I think you'd like her.

[He doesn't explain whether he means the ship or the science officer]

Who has my ship where you're from?

[He does a Spock smile at hearing Pike call the Enterprise "my" ship]

James T. Kirk. I think you would be proud of how he has led us. [He watches a little warily. He's just assuming Kirk is okay and in Starfleet in Pike's reality]
failed_astrophysics: (Contemplative)

I don't know what I'd do without Memory Alpha

[Pike's heard the name, but hasn't had the opportunity to meet him yet.]

Command's been throwing his name around since he was a cadet. They see a pretty bright future for him. Last I heard he was on the Republic.

[He finally makes it to, and unlocks the door to his room,. Everything's decorated like it was on Discovery, warm tones, large table, a desk, and plenty of comfortable seating]

I guess some things are consistent universe to universe.
narrowly: (Solemn)

I know right? Bless online resources

[Spock is quietly absorbing all this. Ambassador Spock hadn't given very many details, so all of this is really making his head spin]

In some ways. [He wonders now if this is how Jim felt when speaking to a Spock from another timeline: wanting to know what had changed, what remained the same]

Captain. Forgive me, but... have you had a recent opportunity to speak with my parents?

[This whole situation calls for at least one drink, and, after putting his meal on the desk, he makes a beeline for his bar cart.]

Ambassador Sarek was aboard the Discovery when I arrived, though we didn't have that much time to talk. I heard both he and Amanda attended the commendation ceremony for the crew of Discovery after the end of the war. He seems to be doing well.

[He gestures toward the comfortable looking furniture part of the room.]

Have a seat. Drink? [He's nothing if not polite.]
narrowly: (Solemn)

[personal profile] narrowly 2019-06-16 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[He obediently sits, still trying to work through what Pike is saying. Events are so different in their timelines. Nero appearing changed so much]

No, thank you. I just need a moment. I did not realize how much changed in my timeline.
failed_astrophysics: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] failed_astrophysics 2019-06-16 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pike takes a seat across from Spock, drink in hand. It might make things a little more friendly, and a little less formal.]

I take it you haven't spoken to either of them recently?

[Which in and of itself isn't too odd, since Spock didn't tell either of his parents about his current sabbatical in his universe.]
narrowly: (Lineface)

[personal profile] narrowly 2019-06-16 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[A shadow falls on his expression] No. I have been in deep space and my father has been busy with the other Vulcan elders. Enterprise... is currently undergoing repairs. Perhaps I will visit him.
failed_astrophysics: (Thinking 3)

[personal profile] failed_astrophysics 2019-06-16 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pike's not going to push for any additional information, falling back on his usual stance of allowing his officers to tell him information when they're ready to do so. ]

Do I want to know what happened to the ship...or is it better than I don't?
narrowly: (Default)

[personal profile] narrowly 2019-06-16 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Our timelines have strongly deviated. However, I still hesitate in giving you too many details about the future.

[Except he’s already said a lot by mentioning Pike becomes an admiral and is injured. Oops]
failed_astrophysics: (Drinking)

[personal profile] failed_astrophysics 2019-06-17 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Regulation 157 Section 3, paragraph 18, 'Starfleet officers are required to take all necessary precautions to minimize any participation in historical events.'

[He's going to take that answer as, it's better he not know, and smiles around the rim of his glass.]

That bad, huh?
narrowly: (Solemn)

[personal profile] narrowly 2019-06-17 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head. It isn't bad; he just doesn't want time to get even more messed up]

The worst already happened when a ship from the future appeared in Federation space. It permanently changed the events in my timeline, which could be why I am unfamiliar with this Discovery you mentioned.
failed_astrophysics: (Default)

[personal profile] failed_astrophysics 2019-06-21 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Pike nods, not wanting to get into anything else, considering it would put them both in a difficult position.]

She's a good ship, but she isn't the Enterprise.
