[He glanced over, then resumed his progress with his vegetables.]

I've heard of Tetch. I guess I was surprised that you had too.

[Both brows rose.]

You're from Gotham?

[That was the only explanation for why someone else would know that name, and react accordingly. And...it would make sense. It wasn't as if Bruce knew every person in the city. And Barbara was here. Why not others?]

Someone told me that this place is called "Wonderland"! And everyone lives together here in the mansion... it's really nice and has a lot of interesting things to look at!

[And it's not the gallery, so as far as Mary is concerned, this place is great. Especially now that we get to share it with our new best friend Ib.]

[Well, you got her. She enjoys arguing as much as she enjoys research. But she doesn't need to acknowledge that when she can give him a disdainful look through her sunglasses and press him for more details. That's an interesting statement to make.]

You were researching yourself?

So am I! [hee hee] And kids should stick together and help each other out... or at least friends do, anyway. That's what it says in one of my books.

[So!]

Tell me more! What is this place like? Are there any fun things to do here?
determinedest: (* They walk not the middle road.)

[She...likes to read a lot, then? That's what they'll have to guess. There's lots of things that can enchant a kid who's spent her whole life in a gallery. Maybe they'll hold off on introducing her to the Second Gallery that Max set up for a while.]

There's a library full of lots of books. And, um...magic closets that can give you almost anything you ask for.

[He nodded.]

Born and raised.

[personal profile] promisetokeep 2017-02-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Huh. An...interesting twist.]

Then that makes three of us. That I know of.

Have you spoken to Barbara yet?
mrsarcastic003: (tim7)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Tim's eyes widened a little in surprise and he set his knife down to turn to look again.]

Barbara? Barbara Gordon is here?
krmvgivv: (see the phantoms of summer)

[personal profile] krmvgivv 2017-02-02 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Dipper grins back as he takes the hammer, scooching down so he can start working with her.] Definitely. And you can meet Mabel later, if you want. She's... hard to miss. [Very sparkly and loud.] There are a lot of kids around here. It's not the same as whoever you're missing, I know, but it's something?

[personal profile] promisetokeep 2017-02-02 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Gordon]

That's--no, you must be mistaken. [He tried to play it off, but the curiosity was there. Suspicion.] Detective Gordon and Miss Kean broke up a long time ago. She...used to be a kind person, but something happened to her.

She was in Arkham for a while, but either was let out or escaped. It's getting difficult to keep track of which.
mrsarcastic003: (tim19)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that... Is a thing. He shook his head once.]

I've never met Ms. Kean. The Barbara Gordon I was referring to is Commissioner Gordon's daughter. She's a friend of mine. [He smiled a little.] We play computer games.

[Hacking games.]

[personal profile] promisetokeep 2017-02-02 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Computer-related things are was Lucius Fox was for.]

I'm afraid...I don't recognize the name.

But I apologize if I got your hopes up. There were...others I had hoped to see here as well. Though maybe it's better they aren't.
mrsarcastic003: (tim9)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, it wasn't the first time he'd gotten his hopes up. It probably wouldn't be the last.]

It's all right. I think I'm getting used to it, unfortunately. [He gave him a wry smile.] There are a few almost-familiar-but-not-quite faces for me here.
mrsarcastic003: (tim33)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. ...Is it something I could have prevented?
promisetokeep: (pic#10766121)

[personal profile] promisetokeep 2017-02-02 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
May I ask who they are?

[Something about this whole conversation wasn't sitting well with Bruce. Tim was kind, but it was almost as if...he was talking about Gotham, but a wrong Gotham. With names that didn't quite match. Commisioner. Barbara Gordon. Somehow, Tetch was the only name that did match between them, which made things all the more confusing.]

[It was as if...someone had studied up on Gotham without ever setting foot inside the city, and gotten their names mixed up.]
mrsarcastic003: (tim9)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
[It was a good thing Tim wasn't very hungry, because this was by far the slowest meal prep he had ever done. He sighed and turned to lean back against the counter.]

Well, you, for one. But the you I know is about... twenty-five or thirty years older. Give or take.
promisetokeep: (pic#10766150)

[personal profile] promisetokeep 2017-02-02 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Silence. For nearly a full minute.]

[He had...heard something about this. Discrepcies with people's memories. Time. It was the only reason Bruce hadn't shut Tim down there and then. It was far too ludicrous a story to lie about, anyway.]

If what you say is true...then...I suppose that means you haven't been born yet. In my time.

[What a strange sentence to have to utter.]

...are you saying that Jim Gordon eventually becomes commissioner of the GCPD?
mrsarcastic003: (tim23)

[personal profile] mrsarcastic003 2017-02-02 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Tim appreciated that Bruce didn't dismiss his words out of hand. It made the whole conversation that much easier, to not have to prove the unprovable.]

No, I don't think I would have been. [He smiled a little.] Which might explain why you don't recognize me. We're kind of friends, by my time.

And yeah, he does. Definitely one of the best commissioners Gotham's ever had.
thevulnerability: (✥ we still want something real)

[personal profile] thevulnerability 2017-02-02 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I know the type.

[ At that point, her mouth does curve into a smile. Lucifer was always the type for making his own rules, to a distressing agree. One of the few things they had in common was how much they both cared about justice... They just came to their conclusions in very different ways. ]

You actually remind me of a friend of mine.
thevulnerability: can use please credit (✥ slipping in my faith until i fall)

[personal profile] thevulnerability 2017-02-02 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ She huffs a sigh, shaking her head. Her concerned gesture turns into a gently pat on his lapels, her palms brushing against his chest. ]

Uh, no. I just didn't know if your, ah, beliefs had escalated into... something bigger.

[ She didn't think Lucifer was insane, and at her heart of hearts, would never believe he would kidnap her to try to play out some bizarre fantasy. She trusted him implicitly. But she had to ask. Even if he had been involved, she wouldn't have been angry with him. He was her friend first and foremost, and if he needed her help, she was going to make sure she gave it to him, regardless of what that exactly mean. ]
realitywarped: (Amused - Eyebrow raised)

[personal profile] realitywarped 2017-02-02 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
[He's noticing the lack of argument, though, trust him. He smiles back blandly at that look, eyelids slightly closed. He's had worse looks.]

Myself, my family- yes. Why, never met a myth before?
realitywarped: (Neutral - Obvious Answer)

[personal profile] realitywarped 2017-02-02 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
They do. I can try things I suspect you can't, and they've blocked those too.

[And boy, does that hurt his pride.]

It might be time for phase two. Tell me, how are you at research?
choosetruth: (talk about seizing the day)

[personal profile] choosetruth 2017-02-02 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
A myth. [Her tone is dry and skeptical. She's been in Wonderland for long enough that the possibility should be easy to accept by now. She's glad it isn't.]

I've met plenty who claimed they deserved that designation. All of them failed to impress.
aristocratic_assassin: (I already know dad's shafting me)

Action - Arrival

[Being where you do not expect normally only poses a mild inconvenience, easily rectified by politely asking for directions. And hey, normally when you end up in a mansion that you've never seen before, it's cause for some kind of alarm.

Normal doesn't really suit Sesshoumaru, or maybe he's just too stoic to express it half the time.

Either way, he can be found wandering the mansion, clad from head to toe in clothes that would make anyone wonder how he isn't positively suffocating, and for the most part, anyone he passes doesn't even warrant a look, though he's aware that he himself is being watched.

What's the matter with these people, haven't they ever seen a demon before? Ugh.

Eventually, he hones in on one particular individual--that would be you.

It's not your lucky day.]

You.

[Manners? You should consider yourself fortunate, he's totally got the best manners, because he's not pointing at you like a stupid little kid.]

Tell me where I am. I don't recognize this place.

Action - Library

[Frustrated by whatever information he's managed to glean from the general population, Sesshoumaru is in a foul mood. Thankfully, he has resting bitch face an excellent poker face and doesn't express it outwardly.

By sheer coincidence, he finds himself in the library and although his mood is poor, he's intrigued. He's never been in such a place before, and he finds the fact that there is endless reading material quite interesting. Approaching a shelf, he slowly raises a hand and strokes the spine of one book with a deceivingly delicate-looking finger, the claw tracing oh-so-carefully. These bindings are alien to him as well.

After a moment's thought, he hooks his claw over the top of the spine and tugs the book off the shelf, opening it to the middle--just to get an idea of the information within.]

Hmph.

[A mild look of vexation finally breaks through his cold mask. This isn't a language he finds familiar. How annoying.]
