[Wynonna doesn't see his post on the network. Mostly because she hasn't checked the network much. Research and network posting, that's Waverly thing. Wynonna? She's not so much a researcher, she's a doer. A go-getter. And above all, a drinker, so when she's making her way through the castle looking for answers it isn't surprising that she finds herself in the bar. She orders herself a couple of shots of whatever the bartender would recommend and looks around for a table when she spots a hat she would know anywhere.

Oh thank god.

She sits down next to him, grabbing his phone from his hands without question.]

You know, I'd lecture you on keeping this charged but somehow I don't think it makes much difference here.

[ in all likelihood, anyone else who tried that would've found themselves making friends with the business end of a gun. but this is wynonna, and he quite frankly would've allowed her to pluck one of his pistols right out of its holster without so much as making a move to seize her wrist. (he's been watching her since she walked in, waiting to see if she'd notice or if he'd have to take it upon himself to make his presence known.) ]

Oh, probably not. [ what he means by that is left deliberately vague. he could be referring to unwanted affiliations, but there's also the pesky matter of him having ignored her (multiple) summons.

there's good reason for it, but it's not something he's at liberty to share with her at this time. even if keeping certain plans that are/were in motion to himself likely won't make a lick of difference in the end, as long as they're stuck in this godforsaken place. ]

But it's still mine to do with as I please. [ doc takes his phone back and resumes doing his best impression of someone responding to a text message, as if he can't afford to lose the illusion that this useless slab of glass and metal still works. ]

[yeah she hasn't forgotten all those ignored voicemails, doc. it bothers her that he does this, he pulls away and doesn't talk to her and maybe he has his reasons but it still sucks.

Looks to me like I am. You, however, most certainly are not.

[ it's still eating her up inside, gnawing away at her innards. she might be able to hide it from the bar's patrons and the other unassuming residents of this mansion, but she can't hide it from him. ]

[it's hard when someone knows her as well as he does. He knows her tells. Her weaknesses.

And doesn't like feeling weak.]

What you think and what actually is are entirely different things, Wynonna. [ he stops fiddling with the phone, laying it screen side down on the table before them, pivoting his body slightly as to better face her. ] One perception is true, the other is merely a delusion. One that's not going to fade with time unless it's dealt with head-on.

[ pot calling the kettle black. for someone who gives amazing advice from time to time, he sure sucks at taking it himself. ]

[the worst part is he's right. She hates when he's right about things. Especially when it involves her. It's not like emotional intelligence is something she has a lot of. She doesn't want to talk about her feelings. She wants to find this Red Queen or whoever is really in charge, kick ass and go hone. ]

We have more pressing issues at the moment, don't you think?

[ because they're "new in town," so to speak, and they've only got the barest of knowledge when it comes to the ins and outs of this place. sure, this red queen was supposedly the head honcho in charge, but was she really? and was she the one pulling the strings? so many questions, so few answers. even he knows better than to storm in, guns blazing, without having a better grasp on the bigger picture. especially when there's no immediate need to do so right the hell down.

[it's tempting to throw the drink in his face. It's also tempting to just punch him. She doesn't do either of those things. She doesn't want him to know he's gotten under her skin. (Deep down she knows he knows but she needs get illusions. Instead she takes the glass from him. She takes a long draw from it before responding ]

And here I thought you might lecture me on needing to keep my wits about me

Me? Lecture you? Never.

[ only always, usually with some reminder of just what people are capable of or what wyatt would've done in a situation like this. (what would wyatt have done? doc honestly can't say, and he doesn't like that.) ]

Drink up. We're in some magical land run by a rabbit, or so I'm told. Clearly the only answer to a situation like this is inebriation. [ yeah, he totally doesn't understand the literary reference. at all. ]

Actually if we're going by that logic we probably shouldn't eat or drink anything, it always ended up bad for Alice [wynonna doesn't care for those books and she cares even less for the modern implications that alice was simply insane or deranged. Hits a little close to home ]

You wouldn't say that if you read them. For one thing one of the bad guys was a Queen who wanted everyone's head. [Wynonna that's the wrong queen ]
